Different fields across the country handle point-blank shooting a little differently in their rule sets. For fields that don't allow you to shoot that close, they might have something called the "bang bang" rule. This lets you take a player out without firing a shot, if you have them dead to rights simply by surprising them and by yelling BANG BANG.
Sometimes the implementation or actual use of this ability by players can lead to conflict. We're not here to tell you what is right or wrong here but create a discussion.

People abuse the Bang bang rule. Some don't, so I guess it depends on the field and the people.

BANG BANG rule: Use of unnecessarily high joules that are often needed for large field play at distances very close cause fields claim they cant or simply refuse to regulate players properly(keep this in mind as this will occur regardless of field issue)... now ensue in game arguments cause its now a game of verbal tag. Solution: if owning or managing a cqb field... use cqb joule limits

As was mentioned, there are many ways to exploit this rule, and use it unfairly, so we've come up with an alternate that has worked for us quite well. Players can still call "bang bang", or "surrender", or something similar when they get the drop on another player, but that doesn't require the other player to call a hit. Of course, if the other player would rather not get shot at that range, they can call the hit, but if they think they can escape, they can try to do so. In practice, this cuts out most if not all of the cases where traditional "bang bang" rules get abused, while still giving players who don't like getting hit at close range the opportunity to surrender.

My field is : No minimum engagement distance. Sniper and DMR minimum engagement is 100ft. FPS limit is 400fps with .25g bbs So no bang out rule, but a lot of times we still whisper knife or bang if within 3 ft, and a lot of us take the bang/sneak. I prefer that due to having lack of depth perception at times I think a person is a lot closer than what they are. My sniper scope has mesh around a certain area just so if a person fits into it clearly I know they are 100ft away. It’s a flawed curtesy due to the fact it is very argumentative. If anything it should be a nice option, and if someone doesn’t take it, sneak again and put 2 or 3 shots into their buttocks!

so 500 fps for .20g, 1000fps for .10g?

I say if you’re playing games with a crowd more filled with newer players then do the bang bang rule. Some people aren’t wearing vests and all this stuff so being shot that close will hurt them and most importantly make that person not want to play anymore. With games filled with more experienced players I don’t see why not. Bang Bang rule isn’t stupid whatsoever it helps stop potential injury, and allows for newer players to experience the game without that level of intensity.

I feel that instead of saying bang bang, i think you should say something like surrender, but when you say that the target gets to chose if he wants to or not.

It's good as long as it's enforced properly and players are clear on distance and blindsides

Our field don’t run a bang rule. We have a surrender rule. If the player does anything but surrender you can shoot them. 🤟🏼🔫

I assume that the combatants in the "bang bang" are father apart than knife kill distance. 'sounds like a good rule to prevent injury in some cases.

I play on a private course. They just started the Bang rule. I stopped playing there. One guy wont claim his hits unless he says ouch or flinches.

I don't like the bang rule because some people yell bang when I am on the other side of the building. People abuse the bang rule

for close range forcing people to do knife kills or just give a light touch would be a good alternative a tag rule would work better. two players get close so they have to maintain enough distance that they are in the 3 foot blind zone.

I dont mind it we have that rule at our field but it's only really used if you come up behind them or get the drop on them at point blank

Bang bang is just a safety rule. You go around a corner not knowing what your shooting, you could shoot somewhere bad causing an injury. It also just hurts to get shot super close.

Personally I see it as a necessary rule its to ensure everyone's safety you wouldn't want a kid or anyone shot at less than 15 feet with something firing at 350 fps or more it would seriously bruise and hurt for days. Same with paintball by brother was shot at 5 foot in the back full auto about 5 paintballs his back had welts on it for weeks

Bang Bang causes more fights and confusion than its worth. It's much cleaner to have the shots taken- especially because sometimes people MISS up close when they are trying to snap shoot. There are people that will overshoot, but they will do that from a distance too and that behavior should be handled as a problem rather than implementing a bang bang.

or get this... make them sign a waiver and make bang bang courtesy, every field I have played at that has a bang bang rule has been trash and it is because bang bang rules are the easiest thing to abuse.

I don't count bang bang. I was once pushed by 4 people at once in CQC, the first one said bang bang, and I replied "sorry I don't count bang bang." The other 3 came around in rapid succession and all missed their shots on my before I killed them, proving exactly why I didn't count the first guy's "bang bang." I'd rather you just shoot me in an area that won't hurt up close (helmet, boots, pouches, etc) then say "bang bang" when you still have the possibility of missing.

I like the bang bang rule some people might not be wearing safety stuff and if you get hit that close it will hurt very badly

I say yes. Like everything else there are pros and cons. But id rather get bang bang then a shot to any part of the body 2 ft away.

Im ok with bangbang rule. Just dont wanna hear it echoing in the whole arena in sucha high pitched voice over and over. These lil kids somewhere around 14 carrying high cap rattlers and everytime they enter a building or i should say right before they enter the building, they yell out bangbang atleast 4 times and wanna dispute about i called bangbang..

#DEATHTOTHEBANGRULE The bang rule is one of the worst things to happen to airsoft. I have seen it cause arguments and on occasion almost escalate to fights. We are all paying to be shot and shoot at people with reasonably safe plastic balls. There is no need to nanny players and enforce a “i shot you” “no mate I shot you first” argument inducing bang rule. I call for a global removal of the bang rule and a move to “ Make Airsoft Great Again!”

Not a fan of the bang bang, all i can picture is someone running around the field yelling bang bang. Not much fun in that. I can see where it could and probably will cause arguments. Personally i feel that if someone can get the drop on you from behind you and your team messed up. If this does happen, however opposed to the surrender rule when i played paintball. You ask them if they want to surrender, that gives them the option to either surrender or try to return fire. We all go out to play and have fun, getting hit is part of the game.

bang rule only works if people respect it ,I got shot in the back of the head with a gen 4 glock 18 and it chipped my skull

Or without it, if can lead to injury, I would rather someone argue with me then I hurt them by shooting them point blank honestly. That's just my opinion.

@@airsoftersanonymous1903 this is why waivers exist I have been shot with 400 fps at close range before and yeah it hurts but you will be fine as long as you are wearing the safety equipment you should be wearing. Also bang bang is the easiest thing to abuse and is why they lead to arguments and ruin the game.

@@hgftgiyg indeed, that's why I wear protective gear. The bomb building at the local field here has no bang bang rule or minimum engagement, just for that building.
