Hello Dave, Happy New Year to you... I really enjoys the banter between you guys on last weekends live stream organized by Harold... That is quite a cool little belt sander, it will be interesting to watch you modify during 2021. Take care Paul,,

If your looking at one of this, look into at 1"x30" belt sander. Several people sell one but Harbor Freight in the states sells one that pretty much the same price with a beefer motor (compared to this one) and is only slightly bigger than this one. The belts are more common as well. I guess if you really need a small unit it might work for jeweler/model crafting. I know its a good entry level belt sander for knife makers. Just checked for anyone interested. Banggood (This model) $75 Harbor Freight (a 1"x30" model)$50 Amazon (another 1"x30") $65 Grizzly (almost exactly like HF) $74

Never thought of HF...

the harbor freight is not similar to this one.

@@robertopics never said it was just alternatives to larger bigger units for about the same price when this was video was posted dont know about now.

Gray Dave, happy new year, that’s an awesome little belt grinder, I like the idea of a small buffing wheel attachment, ummm you got me thinking now mate, cheers Matty

Hi Dave thanks for the plug. I was just thinking about the belts. I have never worn out a belt on my belt grinder. I always rip them or break them first. That looks like it could be a handy tool for grinding high speed steel. I hope you will be around on Sunday.

I'm looking forward to Sunday, it's small enough to go in a drawer and works pretty good...

Put Allen wrench in the bolt that holds the tension bearings and use it to take off tension

Hi Dave, Happy New Year. Will be interesting to see how it goes. Looks good at this stage and ideal for model engineering. Regards Kevin

Hi Kevin, Happy New Year! Yeah it seems promising and have some redesign ideas but does work well on the cutters I've tried so far...

come up with a shield to keep particles out of the open frame motor

I agree. If you grind ferris metals it will build up on the motor magnets I am curious why people are spending $50 plus for these when you can get them for less than $20 on Aliexpress.
@pauls57453 жыл бұрын
sometimes I think about these and yeah they seem a little high but youd have a lot of time in making the plate to hold the bearings and be adjustable. wouldn't be hard to set it up for what youd like to do with it like change out or modify the work piece steady plate, yeah and maybe add a disc on the end
@TheMiniMachineShop3 жыл бұрын
Yeah though about making it myself but the parts add up to almost the cost of the machine...

Nice to here that You're with us. Interesting stuff You've got. That little machine could be an alternative to the pedestal grinder I've got. Both 12 and 24 volt power supplies are avalable. I would advice You to protect the open hole, where the fan is fitted, from metallic dust. Using the link it says 350 Watt. That must be Chinese Watt corresponding to maximum 150 - 200 Imperial, or Metric, Watt......

Thanks Stefan still looking for a supply!

There is the guy! Email me and I'll see what I can do.

Hi Dave, those DC motors can handle up to 30 volts no problem and under load can pull 5 amps, so you are barely using it's capabilities with that transformer. Cheers Rob

That would be great as I do have higher voltage sources but no 12v one. Thanks!

Dave be advised; once you've used up the provided belts you will find that you are unable to get spare belts, especially if the size you need are.. 10 - 20 - 25 - 30 mm x 330 mm. Yours looks to be advertised as the 30 x 330 mm. I have one of these albeit slightly different design that was supplied, with belts as, 20 x 330 mm, not a cat in hells chance of getting spare belts, I am reduced to using 10mm x 330 mm belts. I have resorted to trying to make spare 20 mm width belts from 6" linisher belts, even with scarf joints & super glue / resin glues, not really succesful so 10 mm it has to be. I've written to Banggood customer services enquiring about spare belts... no response!. Like you I've found that this mini grinder is handy for really small stuff, touching up small drills, small radii, de-burring etc. but nothing major.
@TheMiniMachineShop3 жыл бұрын
So the belts shown on Banggood won't fit I haven't verified the size of them...
@Mexmanix3 жыл бұрын
@@TheMiniMachineShop The belts suppilied with the machine will fit, it's when you get to order spare belts it's most likely they will not be available, just the most common size i.e 10mm x 330mm. As above my machine was sized as 20mm x 330mm ( w x circ. lg), can I get replacements in that size ? I have more chance of winning the Euro lottery or your 'Powerball', hence I can only use the 10 x 330 mm which, fortunately, suits most of my needs. Have a try getting spare belts as an excercise!
@TheMiniMachineShop3 жыл бұрын
@@Mexmanix Looking around there are no belts it uses a 1 1/8 x 21" belt! Can't believe this looks like I will be redesigning it soon.
@Xynudu3 жыл бұрын
@@TheMiniMachineShop Hi Dave, No problem, just buy 21" x 3" and tear them down to make two belts, I do this with my obsolete linisher. Plus it works out dirt cheap as you get two belts for the price of one. Watch this: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rdOfpt2T2dK4iqM.html Plus you CAN buy 21 x 1" belts off of Amazon. So I don't know what everyone is banging on about. LOL eg: www.amazon.com.au/uxcell-21-inch-60-Grits-Sanding-Aluminum/dp/B07S9BR53W Easy as ;) Cheers Rob

@@Xynudu Amazon can't ship from AU to UK for this item, besides they are too long for my unit, on mine the girth is 13 " - 330 mm. I have found , & ordered.. 30mm x 330mm belts which I will split down middle & get two belts of 15mm that will do.

Pretty sure I could see 1000 on the back of that belt when you were pulling it through. Next mod - move that power connector round to the back.
@TheMiniMachineShop3 жыл бұрын
Thought about moving it but not sure. The belts feel more like 1,200...
@donepearce3 жыл бұрын
@@TheMiniMachineShop I looked at the Banggood ad and it says 1000. If you do feel like moving the power out of the way, the easier option would be turning the belt mechanism - only two holes to drill. I shall do that with the one I just ordered. Also I'll be remaking a couple of those parts with right angle extrusion instead of bent plate.
