Never been there but I heard Bangkok is the NYC of Southeast Asia. You can go to any country directly using the largest airport.

Behind you is the entrance of the hotel , no need to down stair, you can walk to the hotel from the skywalk

The Solaria hotel, right across from you, has a great rooftop bar. From there, you will have a nice view of your pool and T21. Other fabulous rooftop bars on or off Sukhumvit: Tichuca, Belga, Char and Bar.Yard. Bar.Yard just might be my favorite. Get to them by 5 PM to enjoy the skyline in the daylight, then hang out till sunset. Tichuca requires a photo ID. Enjoy your time. I just subscribed.

Terry im impressed on your 1st trip to thailand you did enough home work to go downstairs where the rail line is to get the best money exchange ! supper rich is great the others in the same area almost the same but upstairss the rates stuck esp. right when you are walking into the airport after customs.. also the metro train blue line is the best and cheapest way to get to down town bangkok also no question the fastest as it does not need to deal with traffic... and for future money savings if you fly in to survinbumi airport and are going to lets say Pattaya go downwstais ( 1st airport level.) and to the left all the way to where the cheap thai food court is and that is where the buses for Hua Hin and Pattaya are supper cheap and much safer they are tour style buses and will get you to your destination safely...

You're thinking about US prices talking about the taxi prices. Almost all of them go by the meter which will be under $10 to get to pretty much anywhere along Sukhumvit. Instead of using the currency exchange, just use an ATM on the first floor.
