This Pat classic has plenty to interest everyone. Pat takes us to parts of the area we would never want to visit. He talks about the old "Semen's Mission" - "still a bit of pussy walking around" - "The prices are quite reasonable and so they should be". Watch and listen carefully. These gems are slipped into every orifice with the relaxed professionalism we expect from an real pro.

What a great reminder for me in this video. I first visited Bangkok courtesy of the Royal Australian Navy in 1982. We were berthed at the Bangkok Port berth right in front of the Port Authority building. As such Klong Toey was a first stop beer bar destination with a minibus dropping us at the end of the wharf road and on the corner of Thanon Tarua 3 ( 8:41 ). There were still some bars around the corner then that provided a few heart starters before heading off to the salubrious attractions of Soi Cowboy or Patpong by tuk-tuk (never taxi). I have particular memories of the sights (and smells!) of the Khlong Toey Markets while heading up from that corner looking for a cab ....what an eye opener. Thanks for the reminder of a fun area which introduced me to the world that is Asia....it was an awesome time. Cheers

Thanks for reminding me about BangokPost. That's how I got my first job. I visited the webmaster, left her my resume, just in case they were looking for a webmaster. Four months later out of the blue, I get an email from her, asking me if I was still looking for a job. She connected me to my employer and the rest is history. The boss had fired two other webmaster due to their incompetence, so I had to go through a technical interview and even a personality interview, which was conducted in some bars in Soi Cowboy!

I recall on my first trip in '87 I was staying in Ngam Duphli, went out for a night out, over did it a bit, overshot the hotel on the way home, found myself wandering around in Klong Toey, I was taken back to the Malaysia by a copper, who told the hotel staff he'd found me wobbling around Klong Toey, it meant nothing to me at the time as the folks I came across were lovely, the hotel staff were mortified, the next morning they made out I'd been risking my life in that overprotective Thai way. Nice to see the Trink mention, I doubt many of today's vloggers would have a clue who he was. Great video again. (The Walking Dude)
