Don’t worry about rehearsing!! Opera singers drop in on each other other all the time, even full roles with zero rehearsals. Both are magnificent musicians. Dimash sings with unparalleled poise and elegance.

You know singing properly is a lot about muscle memory. The fact that Dimash can isolate from pop - and dive into his opera technique so fully and wonderfully - speaks volumes about the depth of his genius intelligence. A beautiful soul. A beautiful mind. A beautiful man. A voice with the most beautiful tone I have ever heard ❤

Well said. There's so much attention on Dimash's range, but to me that's nothing compared to his intelligence, authenticity, and the most beautiful tone I too have ever heard, that could only be produced by a person that beautiful on the inside.

I don't know if you saw the first time they met, maestro Domingo was so happy and said that he knew about him from his 18-year-old grandson, who was surprised by his wide vocal range, all that period in Bucarest was perfect. The video where Placido meets Dimash for the first time is the cutest thing. Placido's enthusiasm of recognizing Dimash because of his grandson and Dimash's embarrassment yet pleasure to be recognized. He said an interview he's been a fan his whole life and had his CD at 5 years old. Of course hearing Dimash sing was spoken, and I think the talk of duet was probably put into motion. Great reaction William. Most of us opera fans who are Dimash fans were also brought to tears too.

William, I couldn't wait for your reaction of this duet knowing your operatic background. Dimash knew this is an opportunity of a lifetime and pulled all his classical training to the maximum to be worthy of this historic moment. I think his teacher Mr Aitimov can be very proud of his student. We watched the whole concert (competition) and the duet was just the cherry on the cake. Bravo to all of them👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

I had my emotional meltdown yesterday when I heard it for the very first time too. I grew up with Domingo when I was a child and teenager and to see him singing a duet with my favorite singer now… magnificent!

DIMASH said it had been since childhood one of his deepest desires to have the opportunity to sing with the "MAESTRO" Placido Domingo. It would have been wonderful if only for one night it could have been "THE FOUR TENORS." But it wasn't to be. The only thing missing about this performance was an audience to get to experience a once in a lifetime performance. (Besides the panel & orchestra, that is.)

Dimash was offered a position in the opera in Kazakhstan, but chose to "see what he could do" out in the world. I think the world is richer for his choice. It's always a joy to listen to him and to watch your reactions.

I too can't watch this duet without crying 🙂 I feel that this is perhaps the vocal performance of the century; the maestro, at 82 years old and one of the last of his generation still performing, so proudly and caringly passing the torch of vocal art to Dimash, with the voice of an angel. What a gift. I'd been wondering when we'd get to see Dimash in a pure operatic performance, and of course Dimash makes it look like he does opera with the likes of Placido Domingo every day. And I'm not surprised at all.
