Bangor, Maine has 13 defined neighborhoods and is home to the Dow Air Force Base. At one time, this base was one of the most active in the country which is why it has one of the longest runways in the country. Due to the military base expansion in the 1950's they needed housing so they built the Bangor Gardens.

I was introduced to real estate as a young child by my parents who owned 30+ income producing rental properties in the Greater Bangor area. While I was in high school, I started to help manage the properties. After high school, I pursued a career in Law Enforcement while at the same time starting a Property Management company. After years of working long hours as a police officer and running a Property Management business at the same time, I ended my career in Law Enforcement in 2014 and focused on growing the business. Working with many real estate investors, they often asked me to help them with buying new investment property or selling property they owned. Because I was not licensed, I was unable to help them and had to refer to licensed Real Estate Agents. Now licensed, I bring my lifetime of real estate experience and am ready to help you in all aspects of real estate.

Spent lots of my high school days in the gardens! Had many friends that lived there!

I spent most of high school visiting the gardens because my good friend lived in there. Always safe & plenty of parking for all of us with fresh licenses haha. Shared!

This has been my neighborhood for 6 years and before that my mother in law lived in the neighborhood. We love the neighborhood park ❤️

Although “The Gardens” was built in response to the need for housing created by the build-up around 1950 at Dow Air Force Base, it was not built by the military but by a private corporation, Bangor Garden Homes, Inc. (1953), and later Kenduskeag Garden Homes, Inc. (1954). The houses were originally rented primarily to military personnel, although anyone could rent them. The so-called Old Capehart wasn’t built until 1958, and the New Capehart in 1961.

Thanks for the additional info and clarification. You are correct that anyone could live in these houses, however, the primary need for them and usage was for military personnel.
