the 1:1 aging mod is nice as well, works with that one. it changes the aging to one year per game year, children become students at 6 and adults at 12 lifespan 70+.

Actually none of the stores needs to be in market circle but all of the homes should be. The circle is about who can buy from the market - not where it gets it supplies.

I think this game would benefit so much from a mod that implement "fog of war", like Warcraft 2, where you don't have knowledge of the entire terrain at first. On top of the randomized terrain, it would be pretty awesome to play it that way.

Story: A civil war happened in the Welsh Colony of Patagonia, and The Welsh Branch of Puritans are declared exiled, so they all leave for the Appalachian Plains after being on the ship Cochshire (Redshire) named after the Red Fort of Offesex (built by Offa the Great and a major factor to influence Henry VIII to make the Acts of Union) and then create a colony.

There is a hot key (I think in the qwerty row) that switches out the appearance of buildings that have alternating designs (namely houses). I discovered it by accident. New Cardiff backstory: Welsh pilgrims migrate to North America from Wales to escape religious persecution. Most territory was already claimed by previous colonists, so this particular group travelled inland to the then untamed Appalachian mountains.

i reccommend the "more hard starts" mod for this for anyone thats already played it a bunch. Basically you can do a classic "hard" start but with 1 special resource, like animals or seeds/orchard seeds. I like the hard start overall but sometimes wanna see if I can survive with only using orchards or animals for food long term, especially when it can be super expensive to buy seeds or wait for the right trader. Although i did find a easy way to by seeds, if you save before the trade boat docks, each time you re-load it will randomize what the trader has, and after a few reloads youll get some seeds/livestock. Also the "more hard starts" mod says it isnt compatible with this CC mod or the MegaMod, but it actually is, just put the more hard starts above the other mods and it still works

Tips for new players: You can assign people to professions from the building's panel, it has two counters representing from the left max amount of available positions in this building and the total amount of people working in this professions. Also don't worry about micromanaging builder count too much. People who can't find job in their profession e.g. surplus builders will automatically act as labourers until there are more positions available.

1. Starting settlers randomly choose their housing, 'older' couples pair up and children just get assigned to any available spot - doesn't mean that they are 'older' couples children. 2. Talking about the efficient start and have a settler killed first year - try building houses AFTER gatherer & hunter & woodcutter. And, at least in ALL of my starts building houses & stockpiles & barns on the edge of forester's area is the most efficient.

You should never have too many houses, or you will end up with single people living in a home without a spouse and the number of children born will drop. Better to always be a couple of houses under the number of families (you can see them when building government buildings).

For the startings. A gatheres home, where you can put like 50 people in is usually easier to start of with cause then you dont have to worry about people not deviding their stuff with the rest. And for equality among the citizens you need the market. The resources are gathered there and people can pick as much as they need and stop filling their house with everything

Somebody may have already pointed this out by now but some of the buildings have several variants - clicking on for example hunting log so you can see the shadow of the sprite and then pressing F key allows you to cycle through them. Wooden houses have about 6 different types.

This looks nice. Might look the game up, with that mod it looks like it could be something I would be interested in.

Ooh, Banished, good choice. Although I haven't played it, the game seems pretty deep with micromanaging. Oh, just a suggestion, you could name your village/colony after an actual colony that had suffered under the conditions (i.e harsh weather) you're facing now.

hunting cabins don't actually need forests at all, they work based entirely off the wandering deer you see on the map, so the output is random, they just have to be away from the main town hubs to get the best results

Gatherers hut and Fishing dock are the very first buildings you should build first, FOOD is more important that a forester's lodge. Hunters Cabin is the third important building. I hear that in harsh climate gameplay its best to build a boarding house before wooden houses

It always kills me when gatherers, hunters, or fishermen or farmers or herdsmen die of starvation. Plus, I have noticed they will have the freezing icon over houses and it will be 80 degrees outside. Can't they steal a bit of what they are hunting or gathering, then wrap up when they get home? ROFL! I just found your channel. Subscribed. I saw where they have a shipwrecked scenario in Colonial Charter. I never noticed that before. I gotta try that one. Adam and Eve is a super hard one at first, but you really get close to your characters in the game with that one. Or, I did.

I know I am super late to the party here, but why didn't you START with the gatherer's hut? You need the food right away, and it's by far the most efficient vanilla food gathering building. There's no point in a forester's lodge until a little later, and even then, you're wasting so much of its real estate with the number of buildings you have in its radius. And there is absolutely no reason to put your hunting cabin in the forest, taking up even more space. Deer wander everywhere, regardless of whether there is a forest or not. Better to put the lodges near streams as they will at least go there to graze. Finally, the CC mod didn't replace the cabin model, it just added another one. You can cycle through them with the F key. You can even see the old vanilla model pop up briefly in the video right after you place the CC cabin down, and right before you right click to clear your cursor.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who constantly closed the professions tab accidentally. since I've never played in harsh weather before and been a long long while since I played this game, I thought house was a low priority early game since food was always first. was there a change in the mod that made house more important?

Cool game Pravus i like it very much hope you continue this series it holds a lot of promise. And have you heard of the game Hacknet ? It's an awesome game i hope you take a look at it and if one of your other series ends and i hope you'll consider playing it, it has a very deep and detailed story for an indie game. The first thing I love about your series is "you are American". No British accent. In the mod pack you are using there is a wood cutter who can also do lumber as well as hard wood. I use that one and switch jobs so I get a varity. I will continue watching your videos. Wish you did Aven Colony.
