When Floyd said he refused to compliment Banjo Tooie, who else immediately pictured the game ending in a 12-12 stalemate with both Dans refusing to budge on that point? "Come on! You know you want to!" "No, I insist! You deserve the win more!" "Oh, no! You clearly worked harder! You should be the one to say it!" "You know you worked twice as hard as I did! This was a TON of editing work to make this polished, I am very impressed. We could have just seen Floyd’s screen the entire time and I would have respected it. Perhaps a rematch or 2 soon? Felt like this ended quickly. Though I did watch Jones vs Barry and poor Barry got caught behind some barrier of having to raise water in RBB to do something in Mansion?

That could easily have gone exactly the other way if Dan Floyd had been a little more aggressive about those honeycombs! I really respect the fact that you guys keep coming up with ideas that require a creative recording/editing approach in order to present effectively--to say nothing of all the work Dan Jones did to even make it possible to play this challenge at all. This was really fun to watch and I'm glad there's going to be another one next week!

I'd recommend adding some name tags for these sorts of videos in the future, even just a label on whichever game screen is the main focus. The color coded borders was a great touch, but I didn't know which color belonged to which Dan until a long ways into the video. In hindsight, I could have figured it out during the planning phase, but you generally want that information available at a glance. Other than that nitpick, loved the layout, loved the editing, and I especially loved the intense Dan vs Dan action!

Agreed. While I did figure out the color coding pretty much right away, I still had to think about it. Something like having their avatar faces in the upper left corner of their screen/border would've helped a lot.

I specifically love these kinds of videos. Where it's a single player game and several people are racing through it. Idk why, but it's my favorite. I'm surprised you guys didn't start with all abilities unlocked. I wonder if that's not doable or if it's just more fun this way. My only small suggestion would be to verbally announce when a square is checked off. idk, I just think it would be more fun than them silently getting filled in without recognition until the other person notices. And tbh I'm not 100% focusing on the video the entire time so it's easy to miss. Especially with two games going at once, I might be looking at the wrong one.

I've found that doing a bingo can really breathe life back into the old games I love. for Outer Wilds in particular I've really enjoyed gaining a new perspective on that world after finding out everything I possibly could playing normally. what an incredible idea:)

Bingo races are new to me and that was fun. The lock out seems like the more fun version so you're having to adjust objectives on the fly. Looking forward to more.

It's interesting to watch each Dan work through strategizing. Floyd goes left to right and talks through each one. Jones is bouncing all over the board. It's also really heckin cool that Jones learned some ROM hacking to do this. Love the energy of that.

Honestly, if I was playing this with someone as intimately acquainted with this game as me, I wouldn't feel the need to be super cagey with my commentary. I think it's fun you guys did, but ultimately you start revealing your strategy anyway as soon as you get on the board in any way so as long as I can avoid revealing *everything*, I'd prefer to banter. And you two have great banter, so I felt that was a missed opportunity. But it's still a great video and props to Dan Jones for digging into the code and making this possible!

7:16 Both are Banjo Masters, but I'd estimate Jones is about an 8 Dan, while Floyd is perhaps only a 5 Dan.

I was thinking to myself why humming would be something you'd want to avoid. It clues your opponent in on where you are, potentially revealing which objective you're going for.

This was fun. I think it'd be better from a spectator perspective if you had a commentator, or recorded your own commentary as voice over afterwards, since it was sometimes hard to follow what you were doing without your normal level of chatting.

Bingosync is pretty neat. I only have three criticisms: 1. You have to create a room to generate bingo cards. You can't look at what cards you might get without a room. I hope those don't stick around, consuming precious memory, after I'm done. 2. No free space. The middle of the Bingo board is supposed to be a free space. If I were designing something like this, I'd set it up so the middle space was always some trivially easy task, because _thats how bingo works._ At the very least it shouldn't be something like "Beat the final boss" or "Win a game under weird conditions". 3. It only has three games I play: Into the Breach, Undertale, and Civilization V. And Civ V is my least favorite game out of the four I remember playing, which I'm sure has everything to do with its inherent qualities and nothing to do with the fact that I spent my childhood playing III and IV. (VI is definitely a better version of what V was trying to be, though.) Oh, and the Super Metroid/Link to the Past randomizer is on the game list. That's neat!

Why does there _have_ to be a free space just because there usually is (in normal, non-game based, random bingo)? Like what's the actual design reason? In my experience having played a fair amount of bingo, it's much more strategically interesting specifically when the middle square is something difficult, as it's the most important (since it's in the most lines). All a free space would do is lower variety as it'd make the lines without the free space (2/3 of them) generally less viable. Also, as far as I know, games on Bingosync are submitted by players. So if you want a game to be there, you can design a bingo list and submit it.

For lockout, I would actually argue the reverse. The center square should be as _difficult_ to get as humanly possible, because whoever gets that one is at an obvious advantage with it being required for four different bingo combinations, but since only one person can get it, they should have to work for it.

That's how traditional bingo works, but this isn't traditional bingo so it needs different rules to match. It's not just gambling that the right numbers pulled). It's about strategy, execution, and most importantly about adapting in the case of a lockout. Having a free space cheapens all that, because instead of having 12 equally good options to route for (just modified based on random tasks), you now have 4 that are both much easier and hard to block. Getting the middle space is now super valuable for blocking, but you have to weigh it against your opponent potentially going for something else and you having wasted time. I do like your idea of having it be something difficult like "beat the final boss", even more if there's a variety of difficult tasks so it's still random. Though I'm still not sure. just because the point of these is that technical skill and adaptive strategy are relatively equal, and that might lean it in favor of technical skill.

If you want to add even more unpredictability to potential strategies, add another win condition: If one player is completely blocked out of making a bingo, the other player wins. It takes 5 objectives to do this; if you snag all the spaces of any letter, you win. ABCDE DEABC BCDEA EABCD CDEAB or ADBEC BECAD CADBE DBECA ECADB

Did you verbally say who was green and who was blue at some stage? Cause if so I missed it and had no idea who's screen was who's for a long ass time lol. Labels would be great in future please. In case anyone else also got lost, Dan is green and Dan is blue.
