A quick note from a retired piano tuner. Placed the tuning fork between your teeth and it vibrates through your head and at the same time frees up your hands to tune. I think you’ll find this much easier to you negotiate a clean tuning

I have played guitar for 25 years and have never liked or used an electric tuner. I have always used a pitch pipe or a tuning fork. Good video. For me the old school way is the best.

Curious about how a tuning fork was used I went to KZfaq but couldn't find anything because everyone was putting it either on (or in) their bodies and talking about magic therapeutic effects or just whacking it against everything they saw. Thank you.

We respect the fork and don't do hippie crap with it.

Is a interesting & alternative way to do it but. I tune my guitar with harmonics on 5&7 and i touch the tunning fork base the string i wish to tune.

Can you explain better how to tune the b and the e string?
@222Lightning2 жыл бұрын
If you get the tuning fork in E.....can't you just listen to the niose it makes then match it to the top string? I thought this is what I saw someone do once. I already ordered an A so I guess be learning this way.

I think that harmony for the two sounds together called resonance, isn't it ? :D

What is that thing that the neck is sitting on?
@kevino6670 Жыл бұрын
That’s great, I was tuning to the open A with tuner on then matching the rest of the strings to where the needle on the A was. -5 lines from center. When I tap the tf place it on the guitat then move it off it is just as loud when the fork is on the guitar. I can’t repeat that with another guitar. Is this good or bad? Any insight is appreciated. Thank You, Kevin

you made the guitar to resonate and it resonates, definitely a good thing for acoustic.

Just don't place the fork base on the sitka soundboard when checking. Don't ask how I know!

What happened?
@paullanier82803 жыл бұрын
@@arturgajewskiphotog hi Artur Gajewski. My placing the base of the tuning fork on the top soundboard instead of the ebony bridge left many indentations. The time and effort to correct my mistake will be tiresome and tedious . I just do not want any one else to repeat an oversight I made.

Wat
@paullanier82803 жыл бұрын
@@noellorenzo5028 really small indentations were imprinted on my soundboard top and it looked as if it was the surface of the moon freckled with shallow divots. I stopped putting the pitch fork on this area and only applied it to the bridge and now the divots flattened out in time.

This is how to tune the guitar. It's from *The Guild of American Luthiers* read it. Use it. And pass it on. drkevguitar.com/2012/04/04/tuning-data-sheet-45/

This would work as long as you keep your guitar vertical. Unless you play lying on the floor :)

The guitar is already built for equal temperament. If you flatten the B string your guitar will be out of tune
@Philrc4 жыл бұрын
@stephen john gray See 6:45 Also you should not use harmonics on the 7th fret because they give true 5ths and with a guitar all the 5ths have to be slightly lower. Guitars are designed to be tuned to Equal Temperament. If you try to mess about with the tuning you may find one chord sounds better but other chords will be out. Also think about it. If you tune the B string a touch flat as he wrongly suggests how will it sound against the B note on the 2nd fret of the A string? They won't be in tune will they?
