If you follow my channel, you may have seen the exploits of my best friend and cameraman Lawrie - he dragged me to Cornwall to buy a fire engine, and to Wales to buy a clapped out MR2. When I noticed he had filled all of his storage space and some of mine with his purchases, I told him he wasn't to buy any more cars. And now he's bought something. But it's not a car.

Well done Lawrie. Follow your dream man. It made my day. I nearly wet myself laughing on the way home in my french intercity train. My fellow commuters gave me some very funny looks. I figured from the start it would be something railways. Dunno, as a railway nutter myself I had a hunch from the beginning. I got more into cars 'cos divorce would be inevitable if I came home with that. Its pretty dodgy as it is. "What? Another car ??" Locomotives are pretty impratical to store and run at home unless you are Mr MC Alpine... Please do some more videos on this. I'd love to see the start up.

Robin Forrest I'm sure the loco will feature again at some point. It's only little, I had done the measurements as I had my eye on a 48 in worse condition and I was playing with the idea of parking it in the shed next to the fire engines. Still - good hunch!

woodlandowl Sncf still has a load of first generation TGV sets sitting around various sites in France. I passed some tonight near Chambéry. But you'll need a ****ing big shed to park one in 😅😅 Better your 48 on a railway where it'll be able to stretch it's wheels than sitting in a shed. K&N air filter, an ebay turbo kit, lowered suspension, long range hellas on the front end and a big wing on the cab roof and you'll be laughing all the way to the buffer stops...

Just between you, me and the internet roughly how much does a Ruston 48 in working order sell for? ... not that there's even the merest shadow of the tiniest idea in the back of my mind when asking that question of course.... ...I already nearly got murdered by the wife in May when I came back from my cousins 40th wedding anniversary in Kent not in the Eurostar as expected, but in a red 1995 MX-5.

You have so many interesting vehicles, it seems a shame to leave them as they are. But a locomotive? Really? So... it has fewer horse than a Ford Fiesta, it weighs more than a dozen Lada's, has the aesthetic appeal of a severed limb, and will serve zero purpose in day to day life? Why not!

Jason Burn Though it's low horsepower, it's geared so it can shift around 100 tons, which is pretty impressive. For a locomotive, that's super lightweight! I think it's super pretty too. She's actually really useful for the railway that she's now based at, and will soon be entering into regular service.

Jason Burn She'll be used for light shunting, hopefully brake van rides on open days, and for helping to lay the railway's extention. When the railway closed and was taken up in 1952 a loco of the same type was used to haul the demolition train. So it's cool this one will help put it bank. She has a name, which we'll recommision her with later in the year, but it's Sir William.
