Mayor Michael Helfrich did not want this video aired at a York Revolution baseball game as originally planned, due to the use of a Maple Donuts truck in the video.

This video is a fun and humorous way to humanize law enforcement and make them more approachable and loved. This video intended to do that as well as raise money for YCPD new equipment. The Mayor’s disapproval banned the video from being shown at the fundraiser on August 25th, and the Police Department is also disallowed from sharing it. Continue to show your support for the YCPD and incite the mayor to reverse the decision to ban this video!

Like I’ve said, they did this because the relationship between cops and donuts... not because of political views. I can’t believe that this was created in good fun and is now being disgraced by our own mayor. York City Police did an awesome job and I don’t take this video politically at all. I support them 110%! Also love the landmarks they threw in there! Great job!

If the police department wanted to use donuts working with a local business like Maple Donuts was a great move! The owner of Maple Donuts may have his political views, but that should not take away from this video and the men and women who protect and serve. Nothing political about the video itself.

I think it's dumb the mayor doesn't want this shown.. It shows these officers in a great light and makes them human.... although the officer driving without a seat belt is sad.

I'm a black male and I found this video to be quite interesting. Me and my mom both see nothing wrong with this and if you find something wrong let me know so that I could be hip to a narrow minded point of view. Now I'm afraid to make any lip sync videos due to the ludicrous hypocrisy of low self-esteem. God forbid if I got sponsord by the NAAC, then I'd be a racist. Can't we just enjoy something instead of trying to find a reason to hate it?

Obviously you can see this video here and a few other places but the POLICE who worked hard on this and donated their time and a lot of effort to making this are still NOT ALLOWED to share it. Please continue to show your support for YCPD and petition the Mayor’s office to release the video AND release a statement that they were WRONG for banning this video at all. The video should have been shown at 8/25/18 Rev’s game as a fundraiser for the YCPD and it was NOT which harmed the fundraising efforts that night! There is a GoFundMe page set up to offset that, linked in the video description-Please donate (It benefits the YCPD directly)

I wasn't going to comment but after reading all of these comments, I decided to put my two cents in. I live outside of York City but in York County and I am extremely proud that our city police dept decided to participate in this challenge. It is showing us all that our police, fire, EMT's & other depts that exist to help & protect us can be human & just have a little fun. Can all of us say that we would risk our lives everyday to help others? I don't think I could, so I give them alot of credit & thanks for what they do. As for the video, I just discovered it tonight & have watched it quite a few times and I LOVE IT! It was nice to be able to identify our local streets & landmarks too. Not sure what the Mayor of York City is thinking. Cut these people a break. This has nothing to do with politics, taking sides or people's opinions. IT IS A NATIONWIDE LIP SYNC CHALLENGE...THAT'S ALL!

Fun Loving Video - it should not be banned because of something political. It is nice to sometimes see police as normal, fun and likable people. Ban the Mayor from winning another Election.

What !?! There were all skin tones represented by the cops in the video? Even the driver had lighter tones. There were darker skin toned police persons dancing as well. There was even a female detective represented AND the interrogated donut was Vanilla !!!!!!! So, The only underling question, the one hiding in plain sight, the elephant in the room IS Why is the Mascott BLUE !?! PEOPLE, It's ONE HUMAN RACE !!! Everybody is Human !!!! Every person has equal value and equal HUMAN rights. I do not see any division in this video. It was just met to be cute. It was meant to raise money to help people.

This is a really dumb thing to ban. Like, I'm liberal and this is really, really dumb thing to ban. I don't eat maple donuts anymore, but it's pretty clear that this is not harmful to anyone at all, and actually pretty funny!

My grandfather used to work for York City Police Department in the 50's and 60's up to 70's. My Dad was a cop for York Area Regional Police Department from 1981-2005.

It's sad the mayor is a bigot or whatever. I drive past York & maple doughnuts on my way south on I-83. Until today when I saw the story on the news I didn't know anything about the sponsor's vehicle or the supporting the wrong political party. the world we live in is a strange place

OK, I just saw the story on the local news about this video not being shown at the fundraiser the other day. You've got to be kidding me… And the NAACP getting involved?! Just a side note: I'm not a Trump supporter. I will vote for democrats if I support their agendas. I will vote for republicans if I support their agendas. I don't care what color a candidate is. I want to elect leadership that will create/maintain the best America for us and future generations. Does the mayor want to raise money for the police department or not? Does the NAACP want money raised for the police department or not? Banning this video at that fundraiser is beyond a joke. There's nothing racist or Trump-oriented in this video at all. What a joke!! Again, most ppl today would label me a liberal. Banning this is insane.

Fantastic...what an amazing community building piece. In a community riddled by violence, it’s great that you can show officers are real people and have some creative fun. Sorry you have to be led by a weak mayor....would they have a public meeting if you used another donut shop? Once again crazy politics has to get pulled into a fun lip sync challenge. Do they realize how many of these videos are out there? None of them come close to the thought you put into it...keep up the great job...you should be proud!

The only thing criminal in this video is that patrol cop's porn 'stache! Also, probably would have been cooler to have the York Rev's mascot as the one who stole the donut truck and was driving it. Ending: Cops should have tazzed him in the behind! lol Good job everyone.....sorry the Mayor & NAACP are drunk on their own stupidity and somehow opposed to this.

Great Job...Way to show the community that the Police are people too. Who enjoy life and have fun, unlike Mayor Helfrich. Can't speak to the NAACP's issues, they just like to whine and sue over unseen injustices. Can't wait to see if Lancaster will come back or not, don't hold your breath. It may take years to get an approved song and do a feasibility study and run it through the Chamber for a vote...….They'll come out in 2020 and be like "We just don't feel it would be appropriate at this time, blah, blah, bah."

I agree with Aaron Houseman completely. My message to Mayor Helfrich is "lighten up". Besides, what other donut truck are you going to find driving around York? I don't agree with much of Charlie Burnside's politics, but they are non-existent in the video. This is a good cooperative effort between his company and the York City Police Department. (If you are going to make this political, why not also point out the Penn Waste dumpster shown [Republican gubernatorial candidate Scott Wagner's company]?) The whole brouhaha is ridiculous. The video is fun and harmless!

I hate that anyone has said anything about this Lip sync video CHALLENGE other than it was good, funny and all involved looked like they were having fun when making it! They did a GREAT job and everything else I have heard is NONSENSE!!!! There is always some A## that sucks the fun out of life and the Mayor seems to be one of these kind of people! It's fun!!!!!!! They did nothing..... but have fun and try to make others smile and enjoy this sometimes miserable world we live in, where everyone is so rude and critical of others, where noone supports or sponsors other good humans! People are absolutely too sensitive. The Police could never do anything right in the eyes of some people. This video was great. It was fun, and put officers in another light to show another side. I watched the meeting about why this video was posted, wanting it banned,, and I heard some ridiculous comments. It looks like Police are not allowed to have fun. Geez !! I believe based on the comments that this issue was more than just about the Police making a video.

First of all, politics are part of life. Perception is reality. The owner of Maple Donuts is a staunch Trump supporter and has embarrassed his community more than once with his "Free O.J." and “Maple Donuts takes a stand not a knee.” billboards. Burnside just reeks of ignorance. Mayor Helfrich was right to not authorize the airing of this video at the baseball game. The Chief of Police said he didn't know of Burnside's political activity. He's either living in a bubble or lying. Everyone knows that the owner of Maple Donuts is as ignorant as our president. I find it hard to believe that the chief didn't know. The mayor sure did. Why wasn't the mayor informed of its production in the first place. By the way, doing the right thing and raising money are sometimes mutually exclusive.

Megan Jackson I’m not completely sure but these are city police, in and out of the car a lot, need to jump out of the car in a hurry sometimes, rarely going above 45 MPH, I think it just becomes a 6 of one half dozen of the other kind of thing for them to wear it or not. If they jump out as the belt is recoiling it could grab their radio or hook on their belt and keep them from safely exiting the vehicle. Just my thoughts

Understandable, since the owner of Maple Doughnuts has chosen to use his business as a mouthpiece for his political viewpoints. Agree with the mayor. Police are expected to be non partisan although I understand the tongue in cheek use of doughnuts and a local business.
