Ecstatic scenes at OR Tambo International Airport as supporters welcome Banyana Banyana, the African champions.
The national women's soccer team took the WAFCON 2022 trophy when they beat hosts Morocco in Rabat on Saturday evening.
The coach Desiree Ellis addresses the supporters.

Motsepe is the one who won cup for them. If he had not banned Barbara Banda, Zambia would have slaughtered South Africa. Even without Banda, Zambia outplayed South Africa, who were saved by a referee who was suspiciously too eager to give unwarranted penalties to South Africa

When Zambia outplayed South Africa in their encounter, the referee started giving South Africa unwarranted penalties, no doubt fulfilling a mandate from someone or somewhere

Keep on building your confidence and motivation’s,we thought without kgathlana things will not be the same but that gave the girls more confidence and showed us what you wanted,I’m super proud of you.. I’m Chala but back in SA they called me Chalala,played in a promotion teams in Tswane south college ka 2007 and ka 2008 I joined FC Porto from Pretoria till 2009 came back to my mother land Namibia 🇳🇦 land of the brave I join premier league team UNAM university of Namibia,I only played preseason and I got a job so I decided to work because soccer here is an early retirement and less money,I only started playing tournaments.. I love this team as much as I loved and enjoyed playing football in SA I’m a fan and will always be a fan keep on doing the best push more ,build more spirit,love,motivation and confidence and respect and support each other..That is how u keep on going stronger and more wins..

This team is full of leadership, discipline and alot of love. Also what I've notice is that the ladies are like wine they mature with age, for instance look at the senior players for how many years they've been in the set up you have 33, 35, 36 year olds most started as strikers and middle fielders now solid backline players. They have also teenagers in the team so that means plus minus 15 years she will be in the national team set up. There is alot to be learned from this team.
