It seems that Ubisoft (and today, almost every game developement company) want to finish the game as quick as it is possible. Yeah, I understand that they could pay too much as they didn't planned that, but let's face it - it would be better if refined. WAIT... I started this from complaining about not-3D views? Dude, what's wrong with me? :L

... I didn´t hear similarities between the 2 (this one and Technomage one), but this particular is definitely from Dark Messiah, since it was first used there in 2 different areas, thus all Dark Messiah talk. Not that it´s any bad at all because they´re all awesome in their own right. :D

Yeah I miss the 3D towns too. If I ever made a game like HoMM, I'd have there be a 3D view to the town. (if it was in the budget to do so, ofc)

This is just a nod to the older games such as homm 3. Older fans of this serie tend to like the 2d graphics.

Yay no more 3D like old times.. ubisoft made this game a lot better than heroes 5 but its still not like Heroes 3

...but its a generous step for all the h3 gamers, to see 2D town scene again :) Plus, they were on a rush to make these, so it couldn't be as good as it can get.

it's just SOOO cool, because (in my opinion) they kept the best "parts" from the series - HOMM 5' s cool graphics and HOMM 3' s 2D view.

To be fair, the glowing eyes in the floating rocks, coupled with the organic architecture of the Inferno towns, do seem to hearken back to the nature of the Kreegan and their technology in the original canon. Come to think of it, it's a nice callback.
