Inaugurated in May 2021, Bao Hai Linh Thong Tu spiritual complex is located in the Sun World Halong Complex, on top of Ba Deo in Bai Chay ward, Ha Long, Quang Ninh province.
Located in a "rare" location on a high mountain top, among green pine hills, overlooking Ha Long Bay, Bao Hai Linh Thong Tu has all the elements that a sacred spiritual community has always possessed. property.
According to Professor Hoang Dao Kinh, in charge of designing this project: "Bao Hai Linh Thong Tu is both majestic but extremely humble, residing in the heart of nature, creating a quiet architectural space and architectural language. Minimalist architecture, bringing tourists and Buddhists peace and quiet when coming to worship and pray."
The complex includes the items Three Entrances, Ngu Phuong Bao Thap, Bell Tower, Khanh Tower, Three Jewels, Ancestral House, Model House, with left and right corridors on both sides. The entire project is imbued with the spirit of Buddhism, depicting ancient Vietnamese pagoda architecture of the 17th and 18th centuries. The architects have created a sophisticated, elegant spiritual space with a tightly arranged layout. , in the direction of gradually expanding from wide to narrow space.
The Tam Quan gate is spaciously designed, with a funny-nosed tiled roof and sophisticated stylized cloud-shaped decorative details. The Tam Bao area has a Cong-shaped face with two roof walls. The Tam Bao roof frame has the form of a gong stand and a stack of beams - typical Vietnamese pagoda architecture of the 17th century.
The architecture of the Ancestral House, with three front halls and one back palace, is referenced from ancient Vietnamese pagoda models, but is simplified to keep the overall natural beauty and harmony. In front of the Ancestral House is a large lotus lake, in the middle of the lake is the Statue of Quan Am Tu Tai (Princess Three), created according to the prototype of the statue in Thien Tru cave, Huong Pagoda (Hanoi). The large left and right corridors are the seat of 18 Arhats, crafted extremely sophisticatedly and meticulously, following the prototype of the Arhat statues at Tay Phuong Pagoda.
Walking around this complex, you will see the typical lotus and lotus leaf decorative motifs of temple architecture of the 17th and 18th centuries boldly displayed on door frames, column bases, and beams.
Not only inheriting the quintessence of ancient Vietnamese pagoda architecture, the design language of the project also demonstrates groundbreaking creativity that bears the mark of the times. “Bao Hai Linh Thong Tu is a spiritual work that is inherited but not stereotyped, copying exactly any ancient Vietnamese pagoda. It combines the architectural language of the era", Professor Hoang Dao Kinh emphasized.
That creativity lies in the Ngu Phuong Bao Thap project. If the ancient pagodas of Vietnam in the 17th and 18th centuries had only one stupa, Bao Hai Linh Thong Tu owns the Five Directions Stupa, designed according to the five directions Buddha model, including 5 towers, symbolizing for 5 directions: East, West, South, North, Center; 5 sets: Jewel family, Lotus family, Vajra family, Karma family, Buddha family; 5 colors: Blue, Red, Yellow, White, Black. In particular, the central tower consists of 9 floors, 25.2m high, inside is placed a Buddha statue and a 4m high prayer column, modeled after a Buddhist scripture column dating back 1,000 years ago at Nhat Tru Pagoda (Hoa Lu, Ninh Binh). ), with the desire to pray for peace for all people and for the country... The four surrounding towers each have 5 floors and are 12.1m high.
Although they are leading architects, Professor Hoang Dao Kinh and his colleagues still encountered many difficulties when starting to create Bao Hai Linh Thong Tu. Although he has a lot of experience, he and his team want to create a unique and impressive project, contributing to honoring the value of the heritage area. Therefore, the architectural team must strive to go beyond their own limits, diligently research and explore new architectural languages, to create different works: while distilling the essence of their predecessors. but still has contemporary architectural imprints.
In addition, the project is located on an uneven terrain in the mountains, in the middle of a pine forest, with a view of Ha Long Bay, so the principle of respect and minimizing interference with nature is given top priority. .
