Glad it helped at least a little, I noticed this when I replaced stock end weights with Barkbuster and on my FZ1 with R&G bar ends. I ended up weighing them compared to stock and well the stock ones were much heavier. Like you mentioned this made me realised sometimes it's best to stick with OEM as bolt on bits sometimes don't factor in bike specific needs especially universal parts.

That's why you fit the BarkBusters bar end weights. Edit, you did lol I've seen some people ad lead shot or fishing weights inside the bars. I've never tried it.

Just add sticky wheel balancing weights behind the bar after the clamp to shift the sine wave phase such that the mid point plot becomes tuned to occur at the grips for the worst rpm.

Fitted some (leftover) barkbusters to my R1250R, same thing, increased vibs through the bars. Managed to fit the original bar end weights with bark busters, and all is good again Yes i know the R1250R isn't a off road bike, but here in UK, we get rain and cold, and this extra protection is a bonus

I didn't know there where optional bar weights to Barkbusters. I will order some for my tiger as well.

I was spoiled by my first street motorcycle, which had a completely rubber mounted engine and shaft drive. I had a 790cc Triumph Bonneville, it was very smooth, but only to 70mph. Above that it had vibration. Same thing with my MT-07, smooth until 70, very bad above that speed. I have not ridden other parallel twins, but I have read that most of them do have vibration, which means I won’t be buying one. I guess there’s a reason the inline four replaced most other engine types in the 1970’s, it was smoother and faster. (And yes I know they can be very buzzy, but often very smooth too. Depends on the bike)

Think the aftermarket bit is bang on, my vfr was silky smooth and hands never went even slightly tingly, installed some bar risers and noticed the vibration change instantly, added some grip puppies but didnt change much, learnt to live with it as the 8th gen vfr basically has race clip ons but still annoying to solve one problem and start another

I slightly disagree with upper engine bars, only because they saved my leg when a car pulled out in front of me. My bars took the impact, destroying the back end of the car. Had they not been there then my knee would have took the impact. So I’ve fitted them again to my next bike!

Dear RocketMan, 2022 I bought a Tiger 900 GT Pro and had major issues with the bike. Vibrations lead to my right arm getting numb after about one hour riding. I read in a forum that somebody fixed that by adjusting the valve timing of the engine. So after around 10'000km I decided to pay for an early valve adjustment, which really fixed the vibration issue. I recommend everybody to do that if they feel excessive vibrations in the handle bars. Thanks for that, I didn't know Barkbusters did add on weights. I wish they did the plastic hand guards without the name on as it does my OCD no good having the writing the same on both sides....

Interesting video. I took delivery of my 2024 Tiger 900 about 3 weeks ago and quickly added barkbusters with the optional bar end weights and didn’t notice any difference from the OEM guards. Looks as though the (admittedly quite expensive) bar end weights were worth the extra expense!

Hey there! Actually, there is one tip (that I am yet to try out myself, since I don't feel the vibes that much on my TA): you can try filling the inside of the handlebar with sand before installing it back on the bike. It adds weight with 0 cost, but watch out for the rubber dampers since adding too much weight might damage those.

Bar end weights are often a big help. I’ve got them on my old DR 650 that is equipped with Renthal aluminum handlebars and Tusk D-Flex hand guards. The weights really help. I took a test ride on a ‘23 Tiger 900 Rally Pro today, and I swear my DR is less buzzy in the handlebars on the highway than the Tiger. Which, when you think about it, is kinda ridiculous. I understand the new ‘24 Tigers are a big improvement in the vibration department, but come on, Triumph. It’s the 21st Century, already. We’re not green laning in the UK at 50 - 60 mph, we’re blasting across Texas on the interstate at 80 mph. Not being able to feel your hands and feet after an hour on the interstate is just not acceptable.

I've got acerbis handguards on my transalp and really appreciated the wind protection whilst riding at about 4C yesterday. I am wondering though if lightweight plastic shields might actually be better as the drop protection may not be that great. I think the most relevant part of handguards may be wind protection. I find myself developing a more minimalist mindset when it comes to add ons.

I owned a Tiger 900 GT Pro from new. Kept it three months but had to sell it due to numb hands. I know with the latest 900 models (like yours) they have tried to address this with rubber mounted bars etc. Still not great though. I think with the latest Tiger 1200 they have tackled it head on with a reengineered balancer shaft. Hopefully they will do the same with the 900. All bikes have vibes, which often gives character, but high frequency ones through bars giving numb hands it not pleasant. Glad you have tackled yours to make acceptable.

I have a 2012 Tiger 800. Added Barkbusters and noticed increased mirror vibes above 70 or 80. I jury rigged some rubber spacers, helped a bit, but not completely. I don’t feel so bad after reading the comments.

I cured the vibrations on my Tiger 900 by selling it …I have a huge issue with this platform ..when it was released in 2022 the media loved it ..and only now after triumph updated the platform are they talking about the vibe issues on the first ones ..seems to me they all kept it quiet so as not to upset the manufacturer…a genuinely fantastic bike ruined by the engine

I assume it's still the T plane crank on the 900s. when I had a test ride, a couple of years ago , I really wasn't keen on the vibrations that the T plane crank made. I found the 120 degree cranks on a Striple 660 and Speed Triple 1050 that I had to be reasonably smooth. The T plane cranked triples I've only test rode, not so smooth. So much so , I wouldn't want a T plane cranked triple engine. I never did get the "turn a triple into a twin" kind of mentality. Maybe that's just me ! with a 120 degree crank, and a 17 inch front wheel , and more road going focus , Triumph could entice me into a Tiger 900 . As it is , I'm more likely to get a Yammie Tracer 9 GT, that has all of those. All that said , I do have a Speed Twin 1200, that does have some vibrations, more through the seat , and I don't mind that. But If I got a triple , well I'd want a 120 degree crank !

Resonance eh. The ends of the handlebars on my old BSA Spitfire were filled with putty and lead shot, worked a treat, the vibes throuhg the foot pegs and seat were another story altogether

Great to hear about solutions for the problem. I have an issue with bar ends for Honda CB250 Two fifty/Nighthawk - due to learning crashes both bar ends snapped leaving a metal part inside the bar. I am not sure should it be removed and replaced with some after market weights or are they original and only original weights will fit? I know - silly question/issue but I cannot find the answer anywhere.

Done this on my 1200 i would change out the silver spacers for the black weights you get in the kit this will then add more weight from stock and take its pretty much away

I just did 1500 miles in 6 days on an ADV 350 and at the end realised I had not fitted the Puppy's - obviously didn't miss them then! Previous 700cc Honda twin had them which is sort of weird, twins being rougher than singles?

Would assume that the Barkbusters would be installed with the OEM weights. They were not put on the bike for aesthetics.

Have the same problem on my -22 Tiger 1200 Pro. Strange that things like theese is not sorted better out before they release the bikes.

Your racks look like they have monolock setup like they could be used with my Givi hard case, do you have a part number?, I currently have a 2024 900GT.

The new crash bars do not have that problem you showed (Triumph added aditional point to the frame). I have dropped my tiger many times off roading and they work perfectly! The old one did not have this extra fixture and would bend back and hit the tank.

Had my tiger 850 for 9000km's now. Can't say i've ever been bothered by vibes. You are sitting on an engine after all. I want to feel the motor work. Sounds amazing to me, a conventional firing triple has never caught my interest.

Is your Tiger 900 the later version with the rubber mounted handlebars?

It's not really about how things are installed it's all about resonant frequencies. From the factory motorcycles are typically pretty specifically tuned to eliminate resonance in the things you're touching at the frequencies they will be experiencing. When you add or remove weight or even move weight around on those things you change the resonant frequencies of those things and if those happen to increase in areas that vibrations are naturally going to occur things will get worse. Bar ends do dampen the vibration by adding mass but they will also alter the resident frequency of the bars. That's why sometimes adding different weight bar ends can actually make things worse. It just depends on the bike and what is attached to the thing and where it's attached.

Interesting video. I rode a KTM 690 Enduro over 23 days and 4,200 miles in May and June in the US. I did get a buzz through the bars but not unbearably so. I actually decided against a Tiger 900 specifically because of the vibrations you had. It seems that there are harmonics that may well come into play which then affect levers, cables and other free floating items that can exacerbate the issue. Your bar weight presumably shift the frequency. Was it an issue on the earlier 120 degree crank? My 1995 Sprint Triple was pretty smooth with no nasty vibrations. The “T plane crank” is not progress to me and, it seems, the culprit for much of what you’re now having to cure.

An old trick is the pump the handle bar tube full of silicone. It worked for me 👍

Has anyine tried to get hold of and fitting the rubber handlebar washes gutted to the 2024 Tiger 900's? BTW I have a Tiger 900 GT Pro from 2021 and for me the bike does not vibrate too much

Doesn't the 2024 Tiger 900 have a couple of thin rubber washers on the risers, which has improved the vibration over the old model. If yours is the previous model, I'm sure you could retro fit those washers to improve things even more.

No bike vibrates - and I've ridden a lot over the past 64 years - like the Handley Page Hastings aircraft did; 10,000 rivets, flying in loose formation. On Jan 12, 1953 at Shallufa, Egypt, vibration sheared the elevator bolts of Hastings TG602. First the right elevator detatched, followed by the left elevator and the rudder and/or tail assembly. All 9 on board were killed. On July 6 1965, exactly 59 years ago today and some 15 minutes after it went in, as part of the RAF Benson crash crew, I attended the crash of Hastings TG577 at Little Baldon (Oxon.) after two elevator bolts sheared due to metal fatigue. All 41 on board were killed when the aircraft cart-wheeled in from around 1500 feet. One of those killed was a former physical training instuctor (PTI) of mine. Lest We Forget.

Interesting reading. I've got a Tiger 850 Sport, and engine vibes are (or were) a problem. Similar to you, I fitted grip puppies (called pussy grips here in Aus), R&G stainless bar end weights, checked the torque of every nut and bolt (particularly the engine bars and sump guard)... all helped, but the buzz was still there. Until I found the XRC anti-fatigue handlebar mount kit (you'll have to google; if I put a link in the post gets deleted). They're not cheap but they've reduced the handlebar vibes to about the same level I experience on my Speed Twin 1200 - i.e. negligible. Unfortunately for you they're don't have a version for the 2024 model, but for anyone with an older Tiger 900 model who is bothered by engine vibration, this is the cure (at least for me - YMMV).

I could ride a street triple for 10h+ days in comfort. But this tourer triple? Nope. It's a shame. (Haven't tried the '24 though). The vibe level of previous version was similar to a KTM 890, but probably more numbing. My NC750x also has all-day comfort.

Oh... So not only 'cheap' Honda CB 500X has vibrations but also quite expensive Triumph ? Hehehe... I removed some crash guards from mine Honda and it's better (some vibs between 3500 - 4000 rpm) but not perfect. PS that price for basically some pieces of anchor weight is ridiculous.

Olá, na transalp, aumentar o peso no guiador, uma volta e meia na suspensão frente para a esquerda, (mais macio) e posição cinco/seis no amortecedor traseiro mais duro, parece que resolve a vibração ainda que se tenha barras de proteção frente e proteção motor. Agora, e sempre na transalp, o suporte malas swmotech e malas dusck só com o escape de origem ou as malas derretem, tinha visto as Suas com o akrapovic, mas, não me parece real, o mesmo aconteceu com este tipo de malas macias e a Sua cb 500x, queimam, ainda tentei falar com a marca sob peças de reposição para as malas, mas..........Suponho que para a triumph também resulte e claro uns michelin anakee road é ouro sobre o azul, perfeito

I own a tiger 955 I bought new in 2003. My wife owns a tiger 800 that she bought new in 2012. Both of those bikes are electric motor smooth. No vibrations. I bought a 900 tiger gt pro in 2022. What a disappointment. I feel like I'm riding a paint can shaker. Don't even get me started on the engine heat. Triumph really messed up when they changed the engine firing order. They say it runs like twin down low and a triple up top. That is a liar, liar pants on fire statement. This thing runs and sounds like a twin, period. It lost the wonderful triple howl. Increased low end torque? In in drag race my 955 will pull away from it like it's chained to a post. I'm stuck with it for now because I would lose a lot if I would try to sell it. I have always been a fan of the brand, but I'll never buy another. Good luck on trying to fix an unfixable factory designed problem.

Handlebar weights can make a huge difference. I have played around with that myself. Of the 3 points of contact: hands, feet, backside. I would far rather have vibration in the hands.

Geez, like spending money don't you. Grab a dozen spherical fishing weights in lead. Squirt silicone sealer into the ends, push in 5 or six lead weights, squirt in some more silicone sealant, then reattach your barkbusters and hardware. I've used thi trick on many buzzy bikes over many years.
