Even offer a ride to a non-driver, of which there are many in the large metropolitan areas surrounding big cities, like NYC, (which along with Connecticut and NJ, make up the Tri-State area), Los Angeles (where public transportation is so difficult to use, and generally the bus stops or subway trains and the light rail require a car, or a fast scooter, to get to.) The MetroLink, that serves most of Southern California from old Amtrak stations, is quite costly for many commuters. I'm just saying that if you do your own share of getting involved, you'll find that it is quite rewarding. And god-forbid if we lose, there will be all your friends to commiserate with you. It's especially important to get voters to the polls in areas with inclement weather! Even if it isn't so bad now, November could be another story!

As an Englishman it warms my heart to know that my friends across the pond once had such a great President who was empathetic to everyone regardless of their race, politics or religion. Someone who was not only a great orator but spoke with knowledge, education, wisdom and foresight. Someone who was not afraid to show his emotion be it his love for his wife or his sadness at the school shootings. It saddens me to think what my friends are going through now with ‘Bunker Boy’ and his tantrums at the moment.

Their body language is so telling. His leg is crossed with his foot next to hers. Holding hands, leaning towards each other. There is no faking their relationship, these two are still deeply in love. That is genuine. He admits she's cooler than he, she's a better dancer, that she's funnier. He can laugh at himself and can take a joke at his expense. Far different than the orange toddler in the Oval Office now.

We will never agree with everyone's decisions beliefs and sometimes actions. However, we must be able to connect on a deeper level and that is the character of a human being. If you can understand that this individual honest and transparent with his family first, you just might feel safe with some of the decisions they make.

I ask myself that every day. I think the reason is threefold. 1. People were fed up with the establishment and wanted a shakeup. 2. Hillary Clinton was unpopular and ran a poor campaign. 3. Our election system is not democratic. Clinton won the majority of votes but lost the electoral college. The electoral college is a system put in place by the founders to placate slave-owning states who felt they would be underrepresented and politicians who didn't have faith that the people could be trusted to elect the best leader. I won't get too much further into how that works because it's complex, but what it means is that the winning candidate doesn't need to get the most votes to be elected president. Hopefully, more people will make the right choice this time around.

Oh many of us Americas were the like the wtf when it happened. It wasn't even a party issue. You could just see the disaster coming. Hillary ( not that it was warranted), was unpopular, ran a bad campaign, online manipulation, etc etc. She actually got more of the popular vote. It was that close she just lost a couple of key states..ie FL.

I'd never think of the word "simple" when it comes to Michelle Obama. I'd say she is forthright, and direct (in a tactful way). She just has so many facets of her life, and so much more than being a good mom! She's modern, very brilliant, fashionable in an "American way", often wearing clothes that are accessible to everyday American women. Not to mention being a gracious host, gracious in her everyday interactions with people, and I understand the WH staff as well.

Once on a flight to the States, I encountered a lovely American Grand Dad. We got talking about how shocking it was for many in the U.K. that the US could transition from Clinton to Bush. He replied that the US is notably adept at oscillating from the most inspiring to the most ridiculous tracing back to what happened after JFK. Hopefully, the US will soon oscillate in another direction.
