Will keep my fingers crossed. It's seems to always be the case that egotistical needs (to be praised & assume the role of omnipotence), and financial economics (this false God & acolytes robbing the treasury blind - unaccountable). These needs overcome morality. And that this isn't a case of swapping "black dog for monkey."

Barbados has become a republic in November 30, 2021, ending its status as an independent dominion in which the Queen of Britain serves as head of state as represented by a Governor-General. To ensure its full independence as a nation and to fully break the ambilical cord with Britain while maintaining diplomatic ties with it, Barbados must shift from the full parliamentary system to the semi-presidential system of the government, the mixture of the best features of the presidential and parliamentary systems that provides for sharing of executive powers between the President, the head of state that the people will directly elect for example, for a term of five years with another re-election for a term of five-years, and who will have the ultimate authority in terms of leadership of the state and that of the Prime Minister, the head of government that will be elected by the Parliament, the Legislative, upon the nomination of the President, to run the day-to-day operations of the government and to direct the government, composing of ministers, in executing the government policies and laws. This then, will help assure the overall development, progress and stability of the nation in the long-term. 🇧🇧🇧🇧🇧🇧🇧🇧

Britain doesn't want to rule countries like Barbados. We are happy to see a thriving country take control. Barbados still remains a voluntary part of the commonwealth so the relationship with the UK is still very strong and that will be great for both countries in the future.

It will be interesting to see how the gay people survive this new country. I was always under the impression that Jamaica was the worlds most homophobic country, but after doing research on the subject Barbados gets top honour for being anti-gay. They are going to need more than good luck I fear.

Barbados are African decent probably from Ghana and other west African countries. Their culture doesn’t recognise gay. Infact none of the African culture recognises gay whether Christianity or idol worshipping including the Muslims. The Africans especially from the west have a culture and law concerning things that are forbidden and abomination to do and they think certain things defile their land and the gods of their land. Anything foreign that doesn’t match their culture are unacceptable. If you are gay and you don’t feel comfortable with them just don’t go there.

@@Mameli20030 ... 10 to 15 % of all people are gay, so like it or not, these African people have many gays living amongst them. My concern is how many will be killed because they are gay, and as a citizen of the world, I would like to see a guarantee that they will be protected. However I do not have much hope that this will happen in Barbados, and trust me, I have no intention of visiting there, I was there 40 years ago and was called honky many times....so good luck to their new make believe country... I see nothing but bickering ahead ....

I hope that JA remain as is. With this Barbadian concentration of power, the populace is being asked to trust in the promise of persons, who seek to elevate their bank balance & status, answerable to no one; but promise is a comfort to a fool. There's an increased risk that there will be injustice without any way to counteract. Trends have shown that there will be intolerable collusion among the rich & highly placed public servants, to subvert fair & equitable justice. The robbery of the treasury, fair & equity economic & social outcomes have begun.

Nelson Mandela stated that “Our march to freedom is irreversible. We must not allow fear to stand in our way.” We have a long way to go before we can accept any other changes that European passes in our direction and start benefiting from the knowledge of our nation. We did not have this chance in the past. Now is the right time. Go ahead Barbados 🇧🇧 and prove to the world that you can survive on your own. Jamaica should be next. Go ahead and remove yourself from the subservient role.
