The new president is the previous governor general 1. There has been a commission decades ago on the topic of going towards being a republic, the idea of being a republic is nothing new its just that previous leaders never got around to it but the idea was always widely popular 2. The prime minister in her manifesto ran on taking the country towards independence and defeat the last administration 30-0 taking all of the seats in parliment.

Btw, most African societies were sustainable, they are destabilized by welfare which lead to overgrown populations and debt. No wonder you have you central bancos in our countries.

Education, healthcare, construction and everything else that comes with it as they’re still a part of the commonwealth, let’s not forget again. I don’t know why someone like you and others see her as the devil. The British monarchy has been around a long time and will continue to be. @muithai619

Thats what you'd like to see huh? Removing the queen as head of state will have little to no bearing on corruption on the island as the queen merely held a ceremonial position with no actually power or influence over the islsnd for the last 50 years... barbados ranks 29th out of all the worlds nations in relation to corruption and than has nothing to do with either the queen or the uk.

@@muithai619 I would love not to see corruption. But the whole world is riddled with corruption. Corruption is the main problem on this planet. No politician loves his country. Not a single one. And the prime minister of Barbados probably loves only money.

@@maindirectorate1400 i agree corruption is a massive problem in the world..... barbados unlike many other countries has had many strong visionary leaders which have lead us and have done much to improve the lives of the citizens.... we have free education from primary to university, free healthcare.... pensions for the elderly and social assistence for the unemployed.... we have also had a stable political climate since independence with credit to ourselves as a people... barbados is also a working democracy ... the last government wasnt doing as good a job as the people would have liked...that party was all but destroyed.... they didnt win one single poltical seat in parliment the population completely voted them out of government.... politicans dont get a chance to get courrpt here and stay in power.... like most countries we do have our issues but i can tell you barbados is one of the best places in the world you can live.

@@maindirectorate1400 i wouldnt say we fully eradicated it but its not at high levels.... the caribbean has had a shared history but many countries have had their own unique issues which cause problems as it relates to corruption such as the effects of colonialism in trinidad with divisions racially, religious culturally and consequently politically of indo trinidadians and afro trinidadians the same pretty much in guyana....or the fact that jamaica's history with socislism greatly affected the island politically, socially and economically.... also owing in part to US sabatoge.

@ Black Hawk They were free and independent country before they became republic since 1960s, as they had there own government. Having same head of state is not colonialism and does not mean they were not independent, they were de facto in union whit UK, whit same heads of state, while having completely separate and independent government.
