By the way, in this recording Mackerras let Frittoli not sing some appoggiaturas, doing "blunt endings" for instance on "Numi" (I can agree with this choice) or on the first "ingrata" (I don't see why). Joyce DiDonato in London 2008 (the video can be seen also here on YT) has been more docile and did all of them, with great effect. (But she also changed (not for better) the melodic line of "aperto veggio il baratro mortal", for some reason which I cannot understand)

Barbara Frittoli is just wonderful, but in this recording there are too many appoggiaturas that were not written by Mozart...in my opinion they sweeten and smother Elvira's vocality, which should be instead deliberately acrid and full of leaps to exalt the passionate character. She is my favourite Elvira, though, and totally love the precision and cleanliness in agility parts.

Joyce DiDonato sings the aria in the D major version, a half step lower (made by Mozart at request of the first performer, Caterina Cavalieri). That's why she sings a different melodic line on "Aperto veggio il baratro mortal". Sorry.

The appoggiaturas ARE written by Mozart. You simply did not bother to read the treatises explaining how to read properly a score (Quantz, C.P.E. Bach, Leopold Mozart, Mancini, Hiller, Garcia...). The musical notation has changed a lot from Perotinus to Ligeti and you cannot presume to know everything that needs once you have learned how to read a score by Rachmaninov. :-)

"Bravo" has become an international word, used in many countries, "bravo" outside Italy is fine for any gender and numbers. so it is very correct on KZfaq! In France you ask for "deux espresso", not deux espressi... and so on...there are many such examples.. let's just enjoy the music...
