Of course, for the Star Wars Barbie, Mattel paid some quite decent copyright for the license. Making those dolls with MTM bodies only gonna make the price go even higher but these BMR 1959 collection is fully owned by Barbie & Mattel, that's why they're more cheaper & reasonable

@@noradennis4361 not everyone can afford it or willing to spend $100 for a doll & not all collectors are crazy about the MTM Barbie bodies, because most of them will keep the dolls inside the boxes for display or, they'll keep it for investment so they could re-sell it someday. So they don't really mind about the doll's articulations. But then again, you're still right, collectors will still buy it anyway, either basic or articulated the dolls are.

And Star Wars have much bigger fan base so Star Wars dolls will buy people who don't collect Barbie dolls but collect all Star Wars stuff so Mattel can afford put expensive price.

If I were your age again, I know I'd be asking my parents for at least one of the dolls. 🙂. Choose the one you'd like the most and ask your parents if they could get you the one.

I’m so proud of Mattel for the diversity shown in this doll line, I’m honestly crying in my bed watching this. I’m 20 yrs old and have been a fan of Barbie all my life, I really am so happy to finally see a male doll with makeup. Really love this! 💕

While I applaud diversity, and think it's great to show men with makeup as an option, don't you think it's pretty awkward to have no option for a dark skinned man without makeup now? I mean, maybe they should have shipped him with an extra head so you could choose whether he was going with the straight look or the makeup look, just so the 99% of dark men who don't wear makeup wouldn't have to go on feeling unrepresented.

@@Marialla. 🤦🏽‍♂️Barbie fashionistas have plenty dark skinned man already. So, no, there is no reason for black mens to feel "unrepresented" just bcs one doll line didn't came with a dark skinned doll with no makeup. Btw if a straight man collects barbies, he's not going to have any problem with a male doll wearing makeup. People with closed minds are going to be the only ones having a problem with the doll. We live in a world where men's makeup is getting more and more normal.

I disagree that girly makeup on men is becoming normal though. It may be accepted, and I'm not saying it shouldn't be, but it is far from common.

Generation Girls were my jam! I'm still looking for Tori to complete my collection! Still, these are Black Label dolls. That means that they are supposed to be more accessible collectibles. They're only $30 a piece. I think it's good bang for the buck. Especially since they are articulated.

I saw the one with the braids at barnes and noble today and freaked out. I asked about them a few weeks ago on Barbie's FB page and the admin responded and told me they were only sold online! Seeing her in a store was a shock. I got her of course!

Lovely dolls - good to see fully posable dolls (without the weird tiny feet of the made-to-move barbies, as far as I can see) on the 1:6 scale that don't cost a month's groceries; really like the diversity of the sculpts, more sweet faces, and the much 'greener' packaging -- which also demonstrated that green packaging can be more elegant and attractive than conventional doll packaging also

I love how you unbox your dolls so we can see every little detail! I I only bought two of the Kens for my collection, and one extra man bun so I could play with and have him set up with the rest of my made to move dolls. I definitely want a petite made to move, and I want more skin tones! But I want them to be available for regular consumers so it's easier for accessibility.

Love the M2M BMR 1959 dolls, however Barbie needs to make all their dolls M2M, especially the Career Doll line and Barbie Fashionistas. Keep the price point below $19.99.

@@ThatClassic70sGirl i agree on the made to move to the career lines but i love the classic ken dolls and wish that they make made to move ken dolls to match each skintone of a ken doll. i have the harley ken and did a made to move steve trevor. it wasn't too bad but i have another ken doll named john who i tried a made to move head swap. at some angles, it's not bad but in person, it is off.

I'm guessing 1959 is the year the first Barbie doll came out, right? And ahhh, the 90's! The decade when clothes were colorfully patterned, snacks were fun and tasty, cartoons were seen on Saturday Mornings on Fox Kids and Kids WB, pogs as one of the coolest toys to play with and Pokemon was just the beginning of the ever growing anime craze in the States! I grew up in that decade and had fond memories of certain kids shows!

I think Mattel should sell extra bodies- like... they could name all of their skintones and if you buy a barbie with the basic 5 points of articulation, on the boy it says what her body's colour is supposed to be and then you could go onto the website and order a tall/curvy/normal/petite body for your doll. Same for Kens.

Perhaps but they'll sell out real quickly because of the collectors and dealers coming into the stores and buying the real popular ones to sell on the secondary market and for extra dolls using the bodies for head swaps. 🙂

Waiting for mine to arrive. Love the girls but not sure that I'm progressive enough for the Kens to stay as they are - will probably keep them in their boxes until I'm confident enough to repaint them. Have already seen the rebodied Kens for sale on eBay UK.

Mine arrived this week and I'm sorry to say that the Kens are a real disappointment. They look like second-rate models kicked out of a fashion week catwalk show. Seriously, where do young men walk about the streets looking like this? The one with neon green hair only needs a big-hair wig and a sequinned dress and he could star in his own drag show. I can't even imagine what idea ponytail Ken is based on. Mattel has worked so hard in recent years to improve Barbie's image, so why do they keep making Ken camper? I had hoped that they would have a couple of ethnic MTM Kens to go alongside the Divergent/Hunger Games/Jurassic World male dolls. These two are definitely staying in their boxes until they get makeovers.

Awesome!!! When I first heard about these, I knew I had to have the Kens! I've got them both now, they just need to be unboxed. :D I love Kira as well - don't think I've seen one of her with teeth showing before! And the curvy AA is on my list for sure, as well as the tall blonde! I do wish that Ken didn't have painted nails, since there are only two Made to Move Kens in existence so far and one skin tone will have painted nails forever, which not everyone wants. I also love the blue puffy coat! I hope it doesn't stain... Mini Me could definitely use it, since Ken clothes do fit curvy ladies pretty well! As for buy or pass? Definitely a buy! Made to Move bodies with high end accessories and a variety of skin tones for $30? Yes yes yes!
