I always thought this song was so stupid, but find myself fascinated with this version and have come back for many listens. Morgan's singing, mannerisms, acting, and appearance are perfect for this role and the backup singers are equally great, especially the guy with the tambourine.

It's essentially from the original video that this is playing with. Pretty much all of the musicians in this are as plastic and wooden as possible while still being able to perform. I've just recently become aware of PMJB, but they're awesome, and a coverband that deserves a following independent of the songs they're covering. Personally, I prefer the ones where they're doing it in a '20s era style though.

What separates PMJ from everyone else is the acting that the lead singers do. Their facial expressions as they sing and their other movements are testimony to first rate directing. It looks like A LOT of preparation goes into these performances.
@russorpcom
@russorpcom 2 жыл бұрын
A good example, why videos are so great to watch. Every time I watch it, I see new body movements on all the singers and musicians, that I missed previously. They match the music. So you watch the video again and again, so happy that it is not removed when watched once. It is so entertaining, you know a lot of thought went into to making the video, not just great tunes. Not sure if PMJ started this, but I also enjoy Robyn Adele Anderson and others as well.

F***k you´re right - she doesn´t breathe. Watching the backers you can actually see them breathe. After a break, before singing a note, they open their mouths like half a second earlyer to take a breath. Morgan just opens her mouth and starts singing. Even after her "siren" solo, no hesitation, just keeps on singing. Her technique is just that good.

As a fan of both Aqua and surf rock, I feel this really missed the mark. Scott, I know this is your show, but it's OK to sit on the sidelines every now and then. Your piano drowns out a lot of the other players, and it makes it even worse when other members are getting drowned out by a piano in a song that shouldn't even have a piano in it. However, it was nice to see Tim Kubart make a come back. I see you guys filmed this during your time in NYC while on your current tour. I know touring aint easy, so thanks for taking the time to make a video for us.
@koopatroopa187

Woodbridge Little Band My post had nothing to do with the vocals. And I get the comedy aspect, but that still doesn't change the fact that there's a grand piano drowning out a Stratocaster in a song labeled as "Beach Boys style." What do Jan and Dean, The Ventures, and the Beach Boys have in common? They never had a piano in their songs. Well, the Beach Boys had a lot of stuff in their songs after Brian Wilson went nuts, but let's just ignore the Beach Boys of the crazy Brian Wilson era. Anyways, forced comedy is rarely ever good comedy. This song is good on its own; however, it's claiming to be a '60s surf rock style song and that's where it misses the mark. If Scott wanted to hit that surf rock style then the song should have had three guitars and reverb. The comedy bit? Tim Kubart has always had that covered.
@koopatroopa187
@koopatroopa187 9 жыл бұрын
***** Whether or not Scott is playing basic keys or performing Mozart is irrelevant when the fact remains that you can't hear the other instruments over his. This isn't the first time this has been brought up either. It has been brought up many times in the past by other fans, and I'm guessing it won't be the last time. We buy the albums and we buy the tickets for the shows, so why should we not be entitled to voice our opinion on what we feel has been an on going problem? We want to see PMJ succeed and be the best they can be, but drowning out the other members with an instrument that shouldn't be in a song isn't the way to go about doing that. It would still be PMJ's music without Scott on the piano just as it's continued to be PMJ without Robyn doing vocals (even though many of us would really like to have her back as the primary vocalist). It would just be PMJ without a piano drowning out instruments required to make the song work in the style selected.
@koopatroopa187
@koopatroopa187 9 жыл бұрын
Woodbridge Little Band Do you know what provides the funding for Scott to entertain you? The fans provide that funding. Can you guess what happens when fans start going elsewhere for their entertainment? Scott loses his funding to entertain you. Please refer to my reply to Samuel, as it's pretty much the same reply I'd give you but with a few things changed, but the gist is still the same. Humorless? Far from it, but nice attempt at trying to alienate me.
@koopatroopa187
@koopatroopa187 9 жыл бұрын
***** And you sound like your opinion is the only one that matters. There's 21 likes on my original comment so obviously I am not alone. Who cares what an artist does? The fans obviously care and alienating your fans isn't the right way to survive as an artist. Do you know why many composers and musicians go under aliases and/or are members of multiple bands? It's so they can experiment with different genres without alienating their fans. Do fans of Phish want to see Phish play speed metal? No. Phish fans don't need to accept a speed metal playing Phish either because they're more than entitled to take their money and find another jam band to give their money. It also shouldn't be a surprise to Phish if their fans boo'd them off stage because they decided to play speed metal. The fans paid money to see a jam band, why should they be forced to listen to a speed metal band? What should Phish do in order to play speed metal while not being dishonest to their fans? Phish should start up another name for themselves to go under when they want to play their speed metal. Where am I going with this? I'm hoping you will finally understand music as the business that it actually is. Again, whether or not you want to defend the piano is irrelevant when it doesn't change the fact that there's a grand piano drowning out a Stratocaster. Do you know what happened to The Time? They broke up because Prince was intrusive and controlling. Musicians don't like it when other musicians are intrusive. Do you know why Suicidal Tendencies has had like a hundred different band members, yet Mike Muir is the only original member? Because Mike is too controlling. Musicians don't like it when other musicians are controlling. Which is why Scott needs to learn to sit on the side lines every now and then. You can keep telling me to go elsewhere and blah blah blah, but thems the facts. Whether or not you want to accept them as facts is irrelevant as they're musical facts and do not change because you said otherwise. Also, you must have missed where I said that the song was good on its own, but my beef was with the labeling as a Beach Boys style song.

+CinnamonWafflez I don't think they understand how good it is; remember, Aqua's version is supposed to be bimbo-personified. Her voice is "that good" that she cannot stoop that low; it's part of all the PMJ stuff. All about the base the original is cutesy but also deliberately no a clear voice, part of Meghan Trainor's schtick, no problem. But their version is to really "belt out" the song and Moran James really delivers. This is a pure New York sound, and that touch of NY, NY with the clarinet and trumpet guy is just perfect. The whole point is this ensemble has an exceptional range of styles, usually far better as artists than the originals who became popular not for talent, but more for opportunistic reasons with usually not much more talent than a catchy tune. What do you expect from teeny-boppers of any age? Try asking musicians; this girl has an exceptional voice and range. [And she ain't bad on the eyes, either.]
