I love the recycled packaging now, but I wish they could’ve done this sooner! It would’ve helped a lot with our recycling situation. Also I really hope they aren’t just doing this for this specific line, cause it would be unfortunate if they used this method for this doll line but then forget about it in future lines :/

I bought the Barbie Loves the Ocean Barbie doll intending to pass the doll on and just keep the clothing items. But when I got her, I fell in love with her hair coloring and have decided to keep her. The only negative to this set is the sunglasses are not wide enough to properly fit her face and keep popping off. I say this line of dolls and playsets is a Yes.

Seeing how unchanged that base bottle for the sunscreen/sunblock lotion is uncanny. I used to have the Kelly + bathroom set as a kid and as a kid slowly lost all the pieces(except the doll of course)😆😆 Now as an adult, any small accessories go into a Ziploc bag for safe keeping.

# 3 is so retro, down to the pearly blue eyeshadow. The peasant top is also retro to the 1970's. She reminds me of a life-guard friend from that era. I love, love, love the cooler and Volleyball net.....Mattel needs to provide the stickers for the cellphone and suntan lotion as they look more realistic that way. At least they aren't the cardboard accessories, which are awful!

I'm an owner of the original Malibu Barbie, Ken, Francie, and Skipper. These dolls and playsets definitely have the same fun in the sun vibe. What I wouldn't give for bend and snap knees though! I wish they would use translucent plastic for the glasses. Any color, but see through. You could always paint the frames later. Your surfboard is genius!

I am loving this whole line! My biggest gripes with the Barbie Color Reveal line is how we're not sure what the concealing paint is/if it's water safe and how much plastic waste it makes. I'm always happy when dolls have reusable or minimal packaging so this whole thing is a must buy!

I see the inspiration from the Malibu Barbie and Friends lineup. There's going to be a Malibu Barbie, PJ and Steffie giftset released at some point or another from the Signature lineup. The pigtails girl has the same hairstyle as PJ, Barbie is... well... Barbie, of course, and the deep skin girl reminds me of Steffie, who had brown hair in her early versions. I hope we end up with fashion packs made from recycled materials and mtm dolls too! I definitely agree with you on improving the packaging, Mattel could certainly afford to do it, there's really no excuse. I think this might be them testing the waters (hah, do you get it?) with whether or not people are interested in buying toys made from recycled materials.

I'm not fully sure about the dolls packaging. I mean, I already seen loads of Fashionistas without their shoe because somehow, people got to tuck their finger inside the box and steal their boots, sandals or whatever they were wearing. In fact, I had to e-mail Mattel and ask for them to send me a pair for the Fashionistas 124 I bought because someone stole her boots. I also suggested that they change the packaging and so far, I believe it's working to prevent this kind of incident. I do like the idea of Mattel using recycled plastic on the dolls, but they really should've thought about it a little better on the boxes.

Yep, Mattel did pretty good with this bunch of play sets and the dolls are okay. I have ordered these and only ordered the AA doll because I like both the doll and the outfit. I like the Barbie outfit, but not enough to have to buy another doll too, as the doll is just so-so. The other doll and fashion just didn't do anything for me. I love the recycling/less packaging, that is great and a bit overdue too. They will get much more business from me going that way than all of that surprise stuff plastic packaging that ends up in landfills and the ocean. I skipped buying the volleyball set as it was so small and fake looking. I'd rather do a MyFroggyStuff type versus and make my own. But I bought the other two play sets and it's great to see them up close and so pretty on this video. I will display my vintage Malibu's with them. Can't wait to get them in the mail. 🥰🌊🦈
