Are we getting a “They cloned Tyrone” movie night??

Allan was hilarious 😂. When Will Farrel screamed at seeing Midge, I almost spit out my drink. My whole family enjoyed this film, but my 17 yo didn’t think the movie was made for kids.

Good film. I left thinking, "am I a Ken"? "Was I a Ken"? Weird Barbie was hilarious, but overall the combination of everyone worked for me. Not just one character.

Alan was too much lmao. I was like wtffffffff when he was kickin ass 🤣 That threw me all the way off

I thought Barbie was cheesy AF but I thought it was cute. Ryan Gosling had me in tears though. Just so funny. The message was clear AF though, so if you don't get it, you don't want to. Worth a watch for sure

Fun fact: The Allan doll was created as Kens best friend in the 60s. Midge was Barbies best friend. I’m quite sure the dolls were created to address some complaints. Many people were mad that Barbie wasn’t married, didn’t have kids, etc. 99% of girls toys before Barbie were baby dolls and paper dolls. Being a mother and fashion were the only focuses. Boys had more toys that spawned imaginative play and allowed them to dream of growing up in several different ways. While Barbie was originally created as a fashion doll she was also created to represent that period in a young adult woman’s life before she gets married. She was created to inspire imaginative play. Marriage & kids would limit the scope of play. Boys toys that inspired imaginative play didn’t come with a spouse and kids. Why should girls? Some also complained about Barbie being too perfect, though she really wasn’t meant to be. She was/is a plastic & silicone tool meant for projection/imagination/dreams. Representation for more girls was extremely important but there are critiques that have always gone overboard. It’s a dang doll. It’s not meant to have actual human proportions, etc… Anywho… Midge & Allan were created to hush some criticisms. They were an average married couple. Nothing too fancy. Nothing too dreamy and not a huge hit with the kids actually playing with the toys.

Margot Robbie is one of the Most Natural Actresses out there... I was surprised at her age... Especially in the Wolf of Wall St. Seems like she been Acting for Decades..

Alan and will Ferrell were definitely my favs. I liked weird Barbie too. But Alan hands down. I also loved when they kept saying certain Barbies were discontinued lol..

Besides the movie the freaking credits were amazing. We all sat there and read all those names; El Novia de Gloria had us rolling 😂😂😂

Barbie did a great job of taking relatively serious subjects and breaking it down to child size. Weird Barbie and Alan were definitely scene stealers!

My stand out character was definitely Allen. Micheal Cera always finds a way to steal the scene with his natural quirky awkwardness 😂😂😂

That Anita Baker top is everything... Met her in Jamaica years back. Gave her a painting of my region. Solid Goddess.

I really enjoyed the barbie movie more than I thought I would. I cried, laughed, and had thought about what was being said in the movie.

I was never a Barbie girl. It was Legos, Science kits, outside, and high fashion all day. BUT THIS MOVIE IS HILLARIOUS. Ima' put this one in the collection.

Barbie was a good time! Had us grown folks out there in our Barbie attire... Unapologetic. It was well done. It wasn't what I was expecting. That movie was low-key deep. Had me like 🤔

Thanks for reviewing this! It was a fun flick and when I was trying to explain it, I thought about clueless too. Clueless didn’t make me cry tho. This did, after I laughed so hard at all the jokes. I only disagree with you on your point about the message only being for young girls. I think young boys and men can learn a lot from this. About what women go through and about themselves. The male perspective is actually given a lot of space in this. Thanks again for braving all that pink and reviewing!

Appreciate your review, @TonyBaker. Me and hubbie were at a theatre going to see MI Day of Reckoning. They had a Pink Carpet Barbie Display where you can take photos. All the people were dressed in their Barbie and Ken outfits! I was like, WOW! (A sea of pink)I'll check it out when it comes on TV. Although, I did take a photo in the display booth. If I knew it was there, I would have worn a pink t-shirt. 😂😂

I’ve been a Barbie girl since I was little and still haven’t seen it. I really do want to see it but it was super expensive to go to theaters or to pay to watch it ($30.00) when it first came out. Plus there’s a lot of split reviews on it. I’ll get around to it one day.

My GiJoes had all my sisters Barbies...even drove the pink Vette...after I spray painted it black. Props to the Kung Fu grip.

Yes! About the seats. I show up at least 15-20min late. Trying not to sit through a 1/2hr of trailers and commercials

I liked it. I felt they dragged the ending and was trying to do too many messages. But other than that, i liked it. Alan was my favorite. Also Ken because I felt like Ken. When he wants to be seen so bad, and you give so much but still don't get anything back. I felt that. N I liked that Barbie realize what she did even though she didn't mean to.

One note: I condensed years of Midge & Allan history because it’s long. Basics… they were created to deflect from some common *ADULT* complaints (along with Barbie’s little sister Skipper & several other dolls over the years). Started out as boyfriend & girlfriend. They have been discontinued and brought back a billion times. Midge & Allan got married in the late 80s or 90s, had kids in the 90s and some people might remember the big controversy surrounding Midge in the early 00s. There was a pregnant Midge doll. As usual Allan was sold separately but people started making bizarre claims about Midge causing teen pregnancy and she was discontinued. There was a huge blow up over it. For awhile there were Midge, Allan & kids sets that did pretty good but as always… not the most popular and eventually discontinued.

I guess barbie didn't have the ashy ticket sales 😅

Yes I also gave 3.5. I'm not a big fan of camp but this was done pretty well. Now that I reflect I think I understand Will F's character better. I wonder if people will pick up on it. Barbieland is bizarro universe for modern day society. I might watch again and up my score for the flick. The movie was that deep.

Barbie was cute and funny. That’s it. I walked away like “oh it was cute and funny”, and went on with my life. Including Clueless was perfect cause I watched that movie on REPEAT. I don’t think I’ll rewatch Barbie. I’ve watched Oppenheimer 3 times now but Barbie was a good solid one time watch. Might revisit when it’s on TNT or FX or something. Also I got the message, like I get beat over the head with it EVERY TIME I get on SM so I got the message about MEN. You better then me Tony cause it would’ve got 2 1/2 saxophones. THE HYPE IS NOT REAL GUYS😂😂 but wear Pink I guess🤷🏾‍♀️

The overwhelming amount of pink turned me off. I also don't care about Megot Robbins or Ryan Gossler so I'll pass. I wonder how much of the love is just hype and if people will still think its a good movie in 10 years.

Didn’t know they even made a Barbie movie until my girlfriend and nieces went to see it. They hated it. It wasn’t made for little girls from what they said.
