I love that they're keeping the plastic aesthetic and exaggerated architecture. Plus, all the actors are perfectly hilarious for their roles. I know, good or hilariously bad, this movie is going to be a great time.

I feel like this movie is either going to subvert expectations and be a great piece of art with a deeper message that becomes a pink horse for awards season or it'll become a cult classic ridiculous movie that no one can hate no matter how hard they try 😂

Margot Robbie was enough for me to go "Right, I need to watch this!" 😂. She brings the perfect vibe to playing Barbie. Truth be told, I was never really a huge fan of dolls to begin with and Barbie did piss me off .. GIVE ME SOME HOT WHEELS GODDAMN IT lol.. I am definitely interested in this movie and I respect the fact that this movie looks like it has a fun premise and the cast is having fun instead of 90 minutes of "I hate the world and myself" passed off as ironic random humor.

Not sure folks caught that, but those 4 girls who say "they haven't played with Barbies since they were 5" - I'm almost positive those are a call-out to BRATZ dolls ( Chloe, the Blonde Caucasian, Yasmine was Latino, Sasha was an African American and Jade was Asian American. XD The popularity of BRATZ (and Disney's Frozen dolls) nearly killed the Barbie franchise until Mattel's Monster High dolls revived Mattel's doll lines....so I heard. That being said, the Barbie, Monster High, Disney collector in me is over the moon! ....and sadly I never had BRATZ dolls. Their giant-plastic-surgery-lips always freaked me out...but I did have games on the PS2 and Nintendo DS.

It could also possibly be a call back to the my scene dolls that Mattel created, which Barbie was a part of, and it was also meant for the older crowd of girls who claimed to be too old for barbie, like they're saying in the trailer, but the Bratz theory is also just as possible, especially since the my scene dolls were made to compete with Bratz!

While I think the later trailers are Giving Away too much, the meta aspect is what attracts me to it. In the earliest trailers they didn't indicate the Real World aspect and it'd still be fine for me had it "just" stayed in the Barbie World...

This isn’t my movie obviously, but having first seen Ryan Gosling as a Canadian back in the 90s on a silly teen comedy show whose only redeeming quality was the prospect of seeing a female cast member in a bikini (Breaker High), I can definitely see him as a Ken Doll. And that’s not a compliment. Wow, women have terrible things to watch now. In 2023, if it’s better than Twilight, 50 Shades or Mamma Mia, it’s a success. The 90s got a great chick flick out of Meg Ryan playing Albert Einstein’s (Walter Matthau) niece being wooed by Tim Robbins the same year that Shawshank Redemption came out. Granted if this was the 90s, I’m pretty sure Denise Richards would have played Barbie. At least it would have prevented her from playing a nuclear physicist in a James Bond movie.
