I would suggest not brushing her hair. Instead wet it to get out the gel. You can let it dry naturally just take your hands to scrunch it up. Without all of that gel, it should lay much better. You don’t need any soap, just water, not hot water. You don’t want to lose the curls. I have done this on my Integrity dolls.

I'm kind of underwhelmed with the movie dolls for the price. Some, like the President Barbie, seem more worth it. I ordered this pastel plaid Barbie, the cheaper Barbie, and the outfit pack. Before I buy anything else I am going to wait for the second wave of movie dolls to be released.

I carefully combed each curl while wrapping it around my finger to keep the shape and it got enough of the product out to make it have its curl without looking weird

I have both. At first I felt like you wasn’t feeling his outfit but the fabric really looks like real denim n not some cheap fabric. So I like it but it’s the same Ken as the cheaper one. Your paying more for the outfit on this Ken. He’s kinda cool. I do have the surfboard Ken n I like him more plus he’s 25 bucks. I like her but not those big curls so I’ll take out them curls n I think she’ll be better. Love the review!!

I already sane the Barbie movie

There is a Ken doll that Ryan Gosling displays in a short video about all the things that he as Ken needs to have, and the last item is his Ken doll boxed, in the tracksuit, but this doll actually looks like him. It must have been a promotional gift to him from Mattel, but what bugs me is why not sell that doll to the public. I contacted them and asked and was never given a real answer to the question I was asking, but directed to their site to buy the dolls we've all seen. It's a mystery.

I feel the same about Denim Ken & probably wont be getting him, but I like him giving side eyes. I have have the Asian Ken (his birthmarks kinda gave me bit of a shock) & the standard "Barbie & Ken" love them both... You can probably give them a quick wash to get ride of some of the "crunchy". Get the other Ken, they're only $25.00 at Target stores... You won't regret it ..

@myworld try just warm(not boiling hot ) but tap hot.water. conditioner soak hair in hot water then run conditioner through. Use wide tooth comb (no brush) then sit her up propped to dry and let curls return to state before boxed.

Honestly, I like Ken's outfit a lot (though I haven't seen it in person), but I'm really not a fan of his face. I would have preferred a Ryan Gosling sculpt, but any generic Ken face would have looked better than this. Barbie is really cute, but I'm waiting anxiously for your Gold Jumpsuit doll review! She was the first of this line that caught my eye (with Western Barbie coming close second). I totally agree that the hairstyle makes these dolls look quite different, which is so WEIRD indeed, as they are supposed to have the same face. Also, Gold Jumpsuit Barbie looks like she's slightly more tan - but I can imagine this is just an illusion created by the golden shades of her outfit and hair...

Honestly….when I saw the Ken, I immediately thought of President Joe Biden. Same smile, and hair, though Ken may have a bit more. i just feel like the shape of his denim vest is just unflattering. Its like the material was too stiff for them to make it small enough so it could make a normal fit silhouette or something. But i suppose even then...its still just a denim vest and jeans lol.

im wondering with the Ryan Ken, because he's the only one who doesn't really look anything like the actual actor annnnnnd we haven't seen him react to his doll out of all of them, if his "likeness" was too expensive and mattel was like "ehhh we'll just do an ambiguous ken face sculpt." i can fully see them just opting out of his actual face cuz he prolly wanted just a tad too much money and everyone was like it'll just make the ken dolls too expensive and no ones gonna buy them. ooo i also agree the denim is wrong for the barbie scale. i know its denim but because its so heavy and kinda fuzzy it just sort of reads like ken denim PJs and im not here for it. fortunately i make doll clothes so im gonna correct this. but also and its little and probably only matters to me the surf set ken has eyes looking straight ahead not in a side glance so that, for me, was enough to get both. lol and i fully agree on the saturation of the plaid outfit in person. i think the gold jumpsuit one is my favorite!

Ryan looks great as denim Ken in the promo photos we got way back, but doll denim Ken’s outfit is what bugs me. The denim is too thick for dolls of that scale. The outfit kind of looks like it’s swallowing him.

I'm sure if Mattel sent you these for free your opinion would be different. You obviously don't have a lot of experience with high end dolls, which is fine, but these are the best Barbie/Ken combo Mattel has released in the last 13 years easily.
