Not sure why but it seems Barbra has a problem with singing a duet live. Like her duet with Celine they haven't sang it live too. Its like Barbra always finds an excuse not to do it. So sad.

That is sad they never performed it live together-- back then Babs was too scared to perform live, which is why Donna Summer sang Papa Can You Hear Me at the Oscars for Barbra. But they did see each other and they did talk up until Donna died. Barbra had just talked to Donna about a month prior, I think. In a concert Barbara said she wished Donna was there to sing with her, and that maybe she could get an animatronic Donna Summer to sing Donna's lines.. lol

Donna has done in her DVD live and more encore with Tina Arena.

You may be correct, But, my perception was that Arianna was too consumed with playing around on Stage, as opposed to demonstrating that she could sing . To be “given “ the opportunity to share a stage with Barbra, I’d want my audience to remember my voice, And NOT; my ability to dance on a stage. I’m of the belief that Ariana knows the NAME, but NOT, her legacy of songs. It is her voice that she is known for, and NOT for any scandalous behavior.

You betcha! The early London concert was a tiny bit ragged around the edges, but I think it was because so many - in that Hyde Park throng of thousands - were TALKING amongst themselves & threw off her legendary hearing. Some of cellphone-recorded things which first came out had a monstrous din around them!

Queen, I got misty eyed too. Maybe it’s because the great Donna Summer has been gone for almost a decade now. I never thought anyone could take Donna’s place in the song, but Ari surprisingly did it well. Did this take you back to your childhood? It did me. Those were the days.

Why blame Barbra? How do you know it was her fault?

The reason is Streisand NEVER DID CONCERTS!!! Period. She was an academy award winning actress who dominated the movie box office in the late 60s and 70s and then went on to become a director in the 80s and 90s she doesn't like to sing! I've worked for Barbra over the years and can tell you she only started performing this song AT ALL within the last 6 yrs. Barbra likes interpretive songs and ballads vs disco or pop and shies away from singing anything off her "guilty album" which is her biggest selling album at 6M copies and pure pop. The point, she doesn't care about popularity or pop music. She adored Donna Summer and has referenced her in many concerts and tweets that she wished she were still alive so they could sing it together. I think in her 70s Barbra is more willing to sing stuff she's not crazy about and have more fun on stage. As an FYI, during the recording and rehearsals with Donna, Barbra said, "this song is in your arena. if you have any suggestions, i'm all ears." Streisand is more interested in DELIVERING a great product, than showing someone up... a la the rumours of Mariah and Whitney and Celine.

There's not enough open throat sound. Her notes most of the time can get pitchy. I would say she's the best vocalist of this generation is falsetto. No one can beat her in that.
