Sitting down? Reclining?? With that power and sublime control? Supernatural talent.

In the past writers have said that Barbara Streisand has the greatest voice in the history of recorded music. This was taped in 1966. “Funny Girl” the film would not come for two more years. This is a great example Barbra’s transition from star to superstar. She takes a popular song of the day and puts her imprint on it. Her live performances in the early CBS specials are nothing short of electrifying in my humble opinion. This woman wanted to be an actress. Singing was secondary to her ambitions. Look at what the world got. A different example of beauty. A voice that will never be surpassed in it’s range and power. A brilliant woman who had control over her career. I could go on. I urge everyone to explore her early work. A talent that will never come again. I hope that future generations will be able to listen to and watch a performance like this.

Who needs the gimmickry, outlandish couture, hair colors or NO real talent of a Madonna, Beyonce or Eilish?! Yes. Eartha Kitts rendition which sounds like a native French speaker is singing. If you speak French, this hurts your ears. I don't deny Streisand did many great things. This wasn't one.

@@ginofalzarano8048 Superstars and idols don't need to conform to ordinary standards. Barbra, Judy, Frank, Piaf and less than a handful of others... they had flaws, including being frequently off-key, but the public doesn't have perfect pitch, and it matters not a bit. They have attributes that more than compensate.

Legend has it that they recorded this Live special until the wee hours of the night. Everything was going wrong, and Barbra supposedly eventually ordered the audience out of the studio, and then she re-did all the songs over and over and over again .... then dubbed in the live audience for the finished product. The result is sheer perfection.

@@samuelhancock3039 I have seen many singers performing this song and didn't like it. But Barbra's performance is magical. She is very feminine, very sexy, her hands are soooo beautiful and the way she keeps them is just mesmerizing.... I like very much this short hairdo on her. However, I don't find this performance of hers perfect, she could do better.

So, are you on a personal Trash Barbra campaign? Like I said on your earlier comment, C'est idiot. No one under 60 even knows who Rex Reed is. Also, he recanted that article years later; he wrote it in anger because he expected to become friends with her and it didn't happen.
