The more you study this song the more layers there are. “Sal pique” can mean “get lost pique”. The bit about chewing and swallowing could be a reference to the fact Shakira first suspected pique was cheating because some of her food which he didn’t like was missing from the fridge. Some of the dance moves are like those from Waka Waka which was where she first met Pique. She also uses hand gestures to indicate 2 2 Clara’s age last year but also her and Pique’s birthday 2/2.

There’s the part that says ‘perdón que te sal-pique’, (sorry if it splashes you) which is a play of words in Spanish and a direct reference to Piqué and uses the word sal (salt) which could mean someone getting bad luck or a bad time. The same happens with the part that says ‘tiene nombre de persona buena, clara-mente no es como suena’ which is a reference to Clara Chia and her name ‘Clara’ being the name of a saint Jaaaa

OKAY so there seems to be A LOT of confusion here regarding what the song is all about.... I LIVE IN BARCELONA, SPAIN and here is SCOOP. CLARA-mente means CLEARY, however, CLARA is also a woman´s name in this case PIQUE´s girlfriend. Her replacement as she mentions in the song. SAL- Pique (in Spanish means SPLASH) however, she is playing with a lot of words in the song, in Spanish, SAL (can also mean LEAVE) PIQUE is Gerard´s last name. Shakira´s mother in law lives right next door to them. She bought her in-laws the house next door to them with a common space to hang out POOL with yard. When she says I´m worth 2 x 22 meaning the AGE of CLARA. Gerard´s Gf who is now 23... and the BEEF goes on. Good for her! Just keep on swinging sista!!!

It is actually the subjunctive present tense of the verb Salpicar which in English means "to splash or to splatter." The lyrics "Entendí que no es culpa mía que te critiquen; Yo solo hago música, perdón que te salpique" literally translates to "I understood it is not my fault you are criticized, I only make music, sorry if it splatters you". This is in reference that in her previous released songs, and before her public split, she never mentioned his name but everybody knew it was about him cheating and thus he got criticized. She could have used any other word but with the conjugation of the verb "salpicar (to splatter)" which has his last name as part of the word "salpique", she finally put the nail in the coffin dissing him publicly. Same thing with the emphasized word "Clara-mente". The word Claramente means "clearly" in English. The lyrics "Tiene nombre de persona buena; claramente no es como suena" literally translates to "[She] has the name of a good person, clearly it is not as it sounds". This is in reference that Pique's new girlfriend is not as a good person since she knew Pique was in a relationship with Shakira, thus stating that a mistress is not a good person. Again, she could have used any other synonym but Shakira names Pique's mistress by her first name: Clara (dissing her publicly as well). Every lyric of that song is filled with references dissing Pique, the problems he left her with, how she values herself as being out of his league, how she's over him and not heartbroken like Pique might have though she would be (my POV).
