Take a look inside the world’s oldest cigar merchants - and one of the last remaining public places in the United Kingdom where people can still smoke inside. Cigar merchants James J. Fox, based in London’s upmarket Mayfair region first opened its doors in 1881 in Dublin, before moving to London in 1947. The tobacconist has received eight Royal Warrants over time, with the last being issued by the Queen Mother in 1997 and they still continue to supply cigars to the royal household.

I met this owner at a pub nearby. We exchanged pleasantries and I purchased him a round or two. He then said he had a cigar store nearby and offered to show us it. We walked over and he showed us around and during the visit gave me several Cubans which were fantastic. A real gentleman and most generous.

I had a wooden pipe when i was 12 years old. A name is written on it and it was King Adward and also written year and i think it was 1785 or 1857 i dont remember exactly. My school teacher snatched it from me in class room and never teturn me. My grandfather gave me that pipe. I think i lost most precious thing.

IC BM the point is tasting the endless complexity that a premium tobacco cigar can provide. I know, its hard to understand that you can consume a smokable only for its taste, not to get high or nicotine rushed. But yeah, its great after you get your taste buds trained.

IC BM what do you mean you can't take tobacco to your lungs? That's how you smoke cigarettes, all the tar you pull into your lungs is what's so terribly bad for you. A nice cigarr tastes fantastic, and I don't see why you would want to breath smoke into your lungs. During combustion you will create hazardous substances. Doesn't matter if it's tobacco or weed. With that said I smoke more weed than I smoke tobacco.

I don't visit this store to often because of the distance I live. However on the day when I go, when I wake up it's always feels like a world cup final day or even better filled with excitement and anticipation. What a privilege it must be to actually work there!
@ciganyweaverandherperiwink6293

I love this comment. I know the exact feeling and I feel it less and less these days, to the point where it will be a totally unable to generate feeling because bricks'n'mortar stores are dying out and what's left will be crap and corporate ugliness with no heart, no soul. I don't think what you wrote about is spoken about and eulogised, explored and celebrated often enough: for a SHOP to inspire us not just to be happy about a specially planned pilgrimage, but to shine our shoes, shave well, do our hair and make sure we look 'worthy' and join in with the high standards we are presented with and respond to so enthuisastically. It's so wonderful to uplift people to be their best when dipping their toes into what they're grateful for and clearly NEED: a sophisticated 'world' with standards and expectations that pulls them out of an ugly, broken society and encourages them to smarten up and be their best behaviour and appearance. I love this. What an incredibly rare phenomenon. This tends to happen to me when I'm in Japan a great deal. Elegant cigar bars and high end teahouses; I show my deep reverence and appreciation by making a day of it and grooming myself to within an inch of my life. It's wonderful. I sleep well at night.
