In a Paris museum, in the Ancient Egypt gallery, strange things are occurring. Our hero decides to visit and sit out the night to see what he might observe.
We've had werewolves and vampires, so it was about time we got around to Ancient Egypt.

I first read this as a pre-teen in the 50s. At that time, and since, I've always thought of it as the origin of The Mummy.

I think a lot of very intelligent people suffer from that not able to focus syndrome. They are interested in so many things and want to try everything. I've often wondered how writers like Doyle and Dickens found time to do any thing, they were so prolific! Thank you for your stories.

If you enjoy Egyptian themed stories a Canadian author Pauline Gedge writes really good books on the subject including one concerning the search for the so called Book of Thoth.

Quite wordy, (not a criticism, simply an observation) the way Doyle writes, but you guided us through with your talent and aplomb. I also GREATLY enjoyed your account of Doyle’s varied background. (Kudos as your success continues to grow! You deserve it!) As always, a hearty Thank You!

@@ClassicGhost Why not? I think you could add the following as new readings also: - Theophile Gautier wrote The Mummy’s Foot; and - Sir Arthur Conan Doyle wrote The Mummy; and - Fergus Hume wrote The Green Mummy It’s hard to believe that the 1920s and 1930s didn’t have MANY more tales with Egyptian themes to them. It was the peak of “Egyptian Revival”, as I think it was called. But apparently not when it comes to fiction or horror!
