A quick look at some bargain razors that are real winners right off the bat! They have surprisingly good quality despite the low price. And, they give some nice shaves.

Great review as always, Mark ! I like the Weishi very much. In fact, one of the ways in which I got started wet-shaving was by seeing Rick from "Pawn Stars" doing a commercial, endorsing the Micro Touch One razor which I believe is made by Weishi. I bought the Weishi from eBay for about $10, went to the Art of Shaving store in Boston, and started down a rabbit hole of collecting razors, soaps, brushes, etc. I still use a Weishi occasionally as a weekend travel razor, especially when we go camping, as it is very light. Mark I have a pretty good collection of new and vintage razors and have spent a fair amount of money. I was looking to buy a new cheap razor and just ordered the Black Tiger for $7.50 with $6.25 shipping. I own four vintage Gillette Techs that I love so I ordered this one as a close clone. Thanks for the heads up.

Nice review Mark, I've ordered a Yaqi open comb head from Ali and I think it was less than 10. It works great in fact it's one of my favourite razor heads.

I have the Yintal brass-bronze 3 -piece razor. Nice weight and handle lengh, great look. It is my most aggressive DE in my den. I use it usually for the first pass on a several days growth. It is also available as a TTO.

Mark Szorady, I remember now that we talked (wrote) about it. I'm glad you like it. I find it looks great, I like the knurling and its weight. I found out that it is just a tad too aggressive for a daily shave. I love using it on a 3days growth. No other razor gives me such an efficient shave. Never had an issue on blade alignment or anything else. And considering its price tag... 😀 ...an excellent buy.

Yes, we did talk about it.:) I agree, it is a bit on the aggressive side. As you noted, for some, it won't be their daily driver. Nice weight, long handle, good blade alignment, etc. An exceptionally good razor for the money.:)

If you're near a Dollar Tree store you might be able to pick up an Assured Double-Edge Safety Razor (similar to the Baili BD 179) for only $1, including a 5 pack of blades. Several manufacturers make plastic open comb surgical prep razors for well under $1 (Personna 75-4004, Kaili KL Safety Razor, Medline DYND70837, etc.), but it appears these need to be purchased in bulk.

borbetomagus I have tried this razor and it’s not bad. You feel the blade but it’s a good shave, especially for $1.

I got the Baili 177 from Maggard razors for $5.99. It’s a beautiful razor that shaves mild. I don’t think you will find a better bargain.

You might like to try the Ming Shi 3000s adjustable. I find it much better than their 2000s (Merkur clone). Got mine from Ali Express for only £8 (about $11).

The black Tiger is just like the Vie Long 3 piece razor . Only $10 . It is just not black . I get a ok shave with it with a Derby blade .

Hi mark, something I haven’t seen on KZfaq are a full video on comparing butterfly razors only. Would it be possible if you can showcase butterfly razors from the Gillette’s to the modern butterfly razors from the low end butterfly to the high end butterfly razors including the adjustable butterfly’s. This is something thoroughly lacking in terms of showcasing and comparisons. The longer the video the better 😀

A really good suggestion.:) I have a few I can easily use to incorporate into a video.:) Coincidentally, this was the style of razor I wanted to purchase due to its ease of use. And, I did.:) the Vikings Blade Chieftain. Even though I already had my late father's Gillette Super Speed, I wanted something new to start off with.:) Since then, I've acquired several.:) So thanks for the TTO video idea.:)

How do you think Mingshi 2000s (clones from Merkur futur) and Rimei?

I like the QShave, which is identical to the Mingshi, as far as I know. I did a comparison video of the QShave and Futur at: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Y72Cg7N7y5mXn3k.html I also did a shaving video of the QShave at: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/g75dg89irdTddoE.html Overall, the Qshave/Mingshi at terrifc razors at the bargain price ($10 to $15 USD).

I have heard Lord makes some very nice budget razors. 8-11 dollars on eBay.

I have a yaqi and a Bali . Both of them are really bad . I get razor burn shaving with them . Now I shave with my merkur 38c . I always get a good shave .

Hey Mark. Maybe you can do a bargain shave with razor, soap, and after shave, using only bargain prices. I would be curious to see what you pick.

I wish you would take more time. to show if the razor blade hangs over the sides. to some it's not a big deal. but to me. I don't like it if the razor blade hangs over the edges of the shaver otherwise good job
