Fascinating watching these lessons, I've learned so much over the past week or so just by watching. Once my easel arrives I'm set to go! Thanks!

Awesome..this is arguably the best , most comprehensive art tutorial on youtube..I mean that seriously...juSt a couple of questions !. I noticed that you didn't use a stump or do any finger smudging to blend values (is that because thats the way the Bargue Method is originally taught because I've seen other tutorials on the Bargue Method where the instructor is using a stump..Is the way you're teaching better 2. You mentioned the use of a fan paint brush in the materials section..but I watched all 26 of your videos and didn't see you use it (I admit I didn't watch each of the rendering videos entirely thru its full length because much of it was just you applying the technique you are teaching.....can you pinpoint at which point in which video you are using the brush Again BIG THUMBS UP..to you for an excellent tutorial

Thank you for the kind words. 1. The point is to get a flat value, I find that the stump is less controllable than just using my charcoal, but if you find it helps you get a flat value, great 2. I mostly use the fan brush to pull back charcoal where I put too much down when rendering. The key is to use it very lightly and barely graze the page, as well as make sure the brush is clean by knocking it before you ever put it to paper.

Hi Love your videos. I have learned so much. I would like to know what kind of Charcoal you are using. I see that you shift between two at least. Can you give us some specification on the charcoal material please. Thanks a million.
