It's relevant for professional baristas. They tamp hundreds a day, to serve other people coffee. It's the same as getting carpal tunnel from sitting in an ac room typing on your computer all day working a desk job. Every repetitive task has a better way to be performed. Every job has an occupational health risk.

The thing is, if your grinder is calibrated correctly then there's no such thing as tamping too hard, meaning that it won't result in a less tasty espresso. But if you work as a barista and have to pull hundred shots a day then saying "don't push too hard" refers to "don't push way harder than is necessary, otherwise it's gonna hurt after some time". But in a home environment where you make one or two shots a day you can press as hard as you want to

It depends on how much you like and know about coffee, now if your just needing coffee in the morning to get you going you prolly don’t care too much how it’s made as long as it’s quickly made, now if you drink coffee for the flavor and seeking to make the perfect coffee everything matters, so to most it’s stupid but to some this is their hobby and they enjoy it so let them do it

@@alinagrace4980 Because at a certain point what you care about isn’t in line with the human beliefs of that era. Like perhaps in the future, there will be a worry that writing letters isn’t healthy for your body but that’s when the technology is there to even worry about that and there is an alternative to even writing or typing. We as people are getting lazier and that’s perfectly fine because our technology is getting better, however, it is obvious that at this point in time, using your wrist to tamp down coffee isn’t a big deal and i doubt he has any sources backing up slightly using your wrist a bit more than usual will cause damage to your body. Sounds like bs.

@@buxe4042 Most people with RSIs don’t take drugs, perhaps only over the counter pain medication during painful episodes. I’m basically just saying tradies get injured a lot, and depending on the profession an RSI could be one of the common injuries. It’s nothing to scoff at, since in severe cases it can literally require surgery or you’ll lose a degree of mobility in your hand. I don’t get the competition, an injury is an injury- how you got it doesn’t really matter.

You’ve clearly never been in the workforce if you’ve never heard of repetitive strain injuries. Even the most “manly” and fit person will develop RSI from a computer job if they don’t practice ergonomics. Applying pressure through your joints hundreds of times a day, 5 days a week, will do that to literally anyone.

Hi, welcome to how Italians, make coffee there’s a magical thing called a Moka pot. You don’t need to tap your coffee at all. You don’t need to aerate it you just put it in your twist the top and you put it on the stove with water in it and it makes espresso in about 5 minutes, best part is they only cost around 20 bucks not 400
@RonDevito
@RonDevito 3 ай бұрын
Except it's not espresso. Moka pot produces max 2 bars of pressure. True espresso requires 9 bars. Nothing wrong with moka. I have three of them and use them. But it's not espresso despite what Bialetti and other moka pot makers like to call it. There's an Italian insitute that specs out what constitutes espresso.
@RobFisherUK
@RobFisherUK 3 ай бұрын
@@RonDevito there is a SCAA definition of espresso but these days everyone ignores it and uses double the amount of coffee and longer brew times and messes around with various parameters including ones not mentioned by the definition. But yeah, moka pot coffee is still not espresso, it's just an easy way to make coffee. Proper Italians go to espresso bars to get espresso.
