Saw him as Rigoletto at the Met 40 years ago, with Mariella Devia and Shicoff. Unfoegettable. Best Rigoletto I ever witnessed!

Eric Zamir-Zimmerman I saw him as Rigoletto in San Francisco with Patricia Wise and Peter Dvorsky right around the same time. A tremendous performance. Manuguerra was the best Rigoletto I ever saw on stage.

This performance here is comparable in quality in every way with Warren, MacNeil, & Bruson. The recording speed seems to pitch it a half step higher than what is written in the score but the vocal quality is superb & I have yet to here a better rendition nowadays. For pre-electrical recordings one might check out Stracciari‘s 1917 performance of DIO MI GUIDA. What a wonderful singer he was & I prefer his work to even Ruffo & Amato, fine artists as well. Stracciari & De Luca are the finest Italian operatic baritones for me in this era (1905-1930).

Eccellente, si, ma addirittura "il più grande" è esagerato, oltre ad essere errato e ancor più irriverente ed irrispettoso verso molti altri egregi e grandissimi Baritoni, precedenti e susseguenti al seppur eccelso M° Manuguerra.

As others have noted this is presented a half-tone sharp. Can you repost it at the correct speed? Manuguerra's fine performance would be even better.

Again, what happened with the baritones. Nobody sings like this ant more. Grande Matteo. Good singer and good person.
