Bark River Knives’s - Tope Recon
Steel: cpm-3v
7.5” long blade
Apparently, Dan tope designed the blade and Mike Stewart designed the handle.
UPDATE: 1 Year Review
● After a year of proper abuse it's still shaving sharp. All I do is strop it after use. After stopping, my mind is always blow away by its retained edge
● It basically looks brand new. The knife doesn't get snail trails and scratches easily. It's tough as nails as 3V steel should be
● I accidentally dropped it on my driveway and luckily it slid. The edge still didn't chip or dull. Amazing
● it feels as tough as A2 steel for sure and then some
● it can chop like a boss obviously
● on long trips it does feel noticeably heavy like a 6" knife. However, this knife is 7.5" so that is a huge plus that a large knife feels smaller and lighter in weight!
● Still using kydex but got a green one. Kydex is a win for this knife
● it's good at gutting fish for its size. The sharp geometry maKes it OK (rainbow trout)
● I'm Impressed beyond belief at it's durability and resistance to rust for a tool steel. No matter what anyone says, it DOES NOT RUST AS FAST AS YOU THINK". I've had it on two hikes where it rained all day. When I got home the orange spots wiped off clean as can be with either WD40 or soap and water.
