Today we are walking from Barkingside Tube Station in Redbridge, East London!
Barkingside is an area in Ilford in north east London, England, within the London Borough of Redbridge.It is situated 10.6 miles (17km) north east of Charing Cross and three miles north of the town centre of Ilford.
Barkingside is chiefly known for the children's charity Barnardo's, which was founded there in 1866 and still has its headquarters there. Some of the oldest buildings in Barkingside include the Barnardo's chapel, the underground station, which was originally an Edwardian railway station, and Holy Trinity Church, which dates from 1840.
Barkingside is a London Underground station on the Central line. The station is next door to the home of Redbridge F.C. It is between Newbury Park and Fairlop stations and has been in Travelcard Zone 4since 2 January 2007.

I lived in Barkingside until moving to Australia in 1956 our council house was built in 1932 , i think Chequers hotel was built around 1850"s have fond childhood memories of the area. has changed a lot.

Ilford is a very diverse town, aswell as the borough of Redbridge. The white british would mostly settle in the Northern suburbs like Barkingside, Fairlop, Hainault. While most of the minority ethnicities would live in the south of the town in the suburbs of Seven Kings and Goodmayes and the town centre

You didn’t mention at the end the Fairlop Oak. The tree in the middle of the roundabout. It was planted when I was a boy ..I’m now 81. Have lived in Sri Lanka for 26 yrs 🙏
