It took us 5 try’s to get this old girl to fire up ! It hasn’t been started since 1997, all we had to do was add new battery’s , a little crack , a air line and fuel cross over lone to get her to fire right up!

Videos like this give me enormous appreciation for the men that designed and built these trucks. They roll right off the line and right into heavy road work, park them in a field where they're untouched for 10-20+ years, do a tweak here and there and Boom - fired up and ready to go back to work. Diesel trucks are amazing assets.

Because so many of them have been drove hard and put away wet the injectors stick batteries and cables corrode it gets water in the fuel or runs out just enough to where it gums things up. Injectors lose prime it takes a little tooling around sometimes

It’s a different life that you have to be brought up in to really understand. Great truck, the video just brought back some memories. Thanks for sharing!

That's awesome! From the good old days before DEF, SCR, DAC records, ELDs and any other stupid acronym you can think of. I miss driving but not all the bs that comes with it now. I just started a 78 Pontiac that sat in my garage or 15 years. Fired right up. Had to drop the tank and get the old gas out because it started clogging fuel filters but shes purring along now. Old vehicles rule.

Tom Paul but also no air ride suspension, no air ride cab, no power steering. Noisy , hot and rough riding. Most drivers today would not last 500 miles in that truck let alone put it in a dock with a 53 foot trailer. Always love how drivers who remember the good old days seem to conveniently forget all the bad old stuff that existed in the good old days. I learned in them old trucks ,I will keep my 2019 thank you very much.

This old girl will still be running when today's trucks have long gone to the junkyard. Today's stuff is so smothered with electronic and computer garbage and it costs a fortune to fix when something goes south. I was OTR from 1996 to 2003 and then regional after that and these trucks were everywhere. That engine sure sings sweet!!!!! Burn out any old rotten fuel and it should run even smoother.
