Welcome to the first video on my Aston Martin DBS. The car has spent the last 15 years in a barn, until early this year when some mad man purchased it, I am that mad man.

As a guy who hunts down barn finds and neglected gems, I could see the beauty in her from the very first image you provided. And once you removed the filler to reveal more angular curvature‘s, I became smitten by how gorgeous she is. Can’t wait to see all your future work and to getting her where she needs to be. It’s nice to know she finally is in capable and caring hands, and to know from here on out it’s going to get better.

I have been doing some classic repairs for people and have found so much filler and bodgery, it is just breath taking, I have nver understood how all the filling and sanding can be easier or cheaper than just doing a proper repair. I am 66 and have dreamed of having an Aston Martin for most of my life so you are now living my dream, good luck with it, I shall watch with interest.

Working through these videos backwards. I didn't realise this had a Mopar motor in it. I won't go so far as to say that makes it even better, but it certainly opens up your options for big power on the cheap and also stops you having to worry about being a stickler for originality. Bristol used these motors iirc. I'd do a manual six speed and a stand alone efi and personally, I love that original Aegean blue.

I’m hunting for the original engine at the moment. But if not, the Mopar can easily get 500HP which would be lovely!

Back when this car was new my mates dad was a chauffeur, and would drive an Arab around in a variety of nice cars. We lived on council estate and when he brought these cars home they stood out like a sore thumb. One of the cars was an Aston Martin DBS. It was dark blue and looked amazing. We got to sit in it and he drove us to the local shops. It had an 8 track sound system which was quite hi tech back then. Elvis I think was one of the big cassettes he played.We would have been about 11 or 12 back then. Great car and we were thrilled to sit in for a drive.

You could try acetone on the drivers seat to remove the paint. it doesn't usually do any damage to anything non plastic and it removes most paints with a quick wipe then evaporates away. Whatever method you choose i hope it comes good for you after all your hard work.

I'd try dry scraping the red paint of the leather seat first. Get a straight razor/scalpel tool and a steady hand scraping to chip away most to all of the paint. Also a little fine sandpaper to remove residuals. Be careful but a better way than trying to use solvent on it.

Bought my, partly dismantled, 1973 car in 2002 for 5k! It was a good deal then. Had to replaced the outer sills. Keep your leather, modern leather is nowhere near what Aston's had 50 years ago. The US V8 will put the purists off, bit is a good replacement, you will get a reliable powerhouse, albeit a little heavier. The early V8 injection system is not something to aspire too. Thanks for video, I have subscribed and look forward to more. It will be a very nice car when finished, good luck.

That was a really bizarre start to an enormous task. If you are going to keep the "wrong" engine, you might as well install electric propulsion. And have more fun doing it, I reckon. Just be careful with your choice of battery. You don't want one which spontaneously explodes. I think a sodium chemistry would be safest.

Do you have photo of the junction of the front bottom panel and the side of the front wing? Obviously as they fitted the fron skirt from later car they cut the wing sides . Can send you photo of the Aston original from my car but on KZfaq do not see attachments option.

What’s the original colour would a v12 out of a jag or db7 fit and be a acceptable replacement. Personally if that car was original as poss to look at and pop the bonnet and there’s a v12 Aston motor with a manual box how can you not admire that ??? My first time here and enjoyed the introduction so liked and subbed 👍

Thank you! I’m glad you’re enjoying the videos. It’s a beautiful bike, a G11. So quite an unusual one. It’s completely unrestored, just well preserved! I need to give it a good service, they don’t like to start even if the fuel is a month old!

Many years ago I bought an Aston Martin DBS, it was stripped, with no interior and no engine Ln silver. The thing is it was smashed in the nearside front wing! I fitted an American engine, but a chewy 327 This looks so much like it, I wonder if it's the same one, registration started ANK. ALEC

the paint on the driver's seat are you sure its not leather dye, was he trying to make the interior red leather ?.
@HudsonAutoFilms
@HudsonAutoFilms 11 ай бұрын
I did think that. But it’s definitely red oxide. Someone did a small patch on the floor and red oxided over it. So I think it’s from then, identical colour.

@@HudsonAutoFilms hi thanks, I meant I'd like to know what happened to PBY ?. Bought in 1984, 4.5k amazing to think nowadays, dark blue with a factory special order dark red velour interior Inc headlining,. Always remember gearbox 5speed ZF which felt like driving a truck, boy that was a heavy gear change. It was in lovely condition when I sold it, however as with us all I needed cash for other things. Would I have it back, yes I think I would although I'm very happy with my 5 Speed 928 which I've had for 31 years now.... Anyway best wishes to you, I'll look out for your videos.

Was the filler over original paint? Think it's a similar story here
@HudsonAutoFilms
@HudsonAutoFilms Жыл бұрын
So the original paint had been sanded, then lots of filler…then red paint. Then lots more filler! Then silver paint. So it was sandwiched between multiple layers of paint. Crazy what they did to it. Have you got one?

Very sad to see the bodge jobs on our cars when they were too expensive to fix properly. 2nd or 3rd owners were already over their heads financially, and a major repair was game over, and then shoved in a barn, abandoned, or sold on. I found some horrors when going to bare metal, but now she will be as she left the factory.

Not gonna happen,they can push all they like but when the alternative has limited range is just as or more expensive than petrol/diesel and no resale value along with poor servicing outlets and fire danger. So we're are they going?

Double post, but the Mopar engine is part of the car's history, and you'd probably get more power out of it. This is a British muscle car, embrace it.
