Just subbed on the basis of your excellent review. From the U.K. here so keep in mind the limitations on our options when I ask this and the present times which is why I’m asking. Would this stop a human intruder if fired 15-25 yards and hits in chest? Asking from a home defence scenario perspective. Thank you.

I have the Blackcat here in the UK (so no deer hunting for me I`m afraid!). I also favour 20" carbon bolts, and I have a Barnett rope cocker; mine is paired up with a Hawke XB30 scope. A good option for SHTF and prepper scenarios

In the instruction booklet that came with my wildcat bow , it states that a cocking string comes with this package

All but sold on this crossbow, good review; thanks for clearing up those questions... only two things I'm wondering is it able to be cocked unassisted by hand? And is it ambidextrous as far as the quiver goes?

I cock mine by hand but it does have issues of the bolts not sitting flat on the rail throwing off the accuracy,I'm currently trying to find a solution,even 20inch bolts tip up off the rail

I’m trying to add the universal cocking device and don’t know where to mount it. This is the my first time using a crossbow and I had shoulder surgery that requires the cocking device. Any help would be great thanks

What is your bolt/broadhead grain that is working well for you with this bow

I have this model. I find that the crossbow bolt does not sit flat in the rail. The distal broad head end sits slightly elevated and to the left. Can this be corrected?

Mine does the same thing. I believe it is the anti dry fire mechanism applying too much pressure on top of the nock

@renegadebroadcastingrenega610 "Hog recurve" research answers anything; they probably drive me to trad archery guys who shot hogs with traditional recurve bow shooting 600 grs arrows with Eskimo broadheads at 185 fps., and, if I include "crossbow", they probably drive me to Excalibur crossbows that are way more powerful than the light Barnett Wildcat, so I need first hand experience, however, thanks for your suggestion.

Wild small/medium hogs yes, large boars (can reach 700 lbs) should use a compound crossbow with at least 65-70 foot lbs of kenetic energy from my understanding. This particular Barnett recurve crossbow is producing about 55-57 ftlbs of kenetic energy depending on if you are using 20" 400 grain bolts or 18" 380 grain bolts prospectively. It's the equivalent of a mid 2000's quality 60-70lb compound bow in my opinion. The new compound bows are already pushing past 300 fps just like the newer compound crossbows are pushing over 400 fps.
