Ron was simply perfect as Harris. he was able to be pompous, snooty, self involved and vain yet still so likable, charming and hilarious. Helluva actor and R.I.P.

I grew up with Det. Harris, but to me, Ron Glass will forever be Shepherd Book.

@rj zander Ron Glass stated that Rod Perry took the job on the A-Team but Rod Perry took the job on the TV show SWAT

RIP to Rod Perry and Ron Glass. Rod Perry was Deacon on the original SWAT on ABC, which aired back in the mid 70.

Ron Glass made a slight error, it wasn't the A-Team that Perry got hired for (the show didn't come out until 1983), it was the TV show SWAT. I remember Rod Perry's role as Detective Wilson in the second episode of Barney Miller. That's the one where the bomber planted a bomb in the squad room. Perry had a wonderful presence, which is why he got picked up for the original SWAT series with Steve Forest and Robert Urich. No complaints about Ron Glass either 😊😊😊😊

There was another black guy on one of the first shows of the first seasons, I'll have to rewatch, but I wonder if that was him. Wilson? No, but his name is used on that show, and then a couple of shows later Fish is talking to another detective at another precinct and uses that name. There was also a running joke about the names that were on the call sheet on the wall that the detectives would sign into. I think his name showed up there.

I thought Harris could be so funny. I enjoyed watching him on Barny Miller. My least favorite actor was, Dietrich. I didn't find him funny, or enjoyable
