Small town Sheriff Andy Taylor is raising his son Opie (Ron Howard) with the help of Aunt Bee (Frances Bavier) in Mayberry, North Carolina. With virtually no crimes to solve, most of Andy's time is spent calming down his bumbling but well-meaning Deputy Barney Fife (Don Knotts).

A lot of kid actors turn out to be addicts. I believe Ron Howard was influenced in such a positive way by Andy by playing his son, that it made him who he is today.

I disagree on this because Ron's parents where on the set everyday. And rumor that his Mom would have him play sports between his shots. Try to make a normal kid life as much as possible. Where Barney was a "player" in the series, Andy had numerous love affairs in real life. I will give credit though that the staff did have great relationships (except Aunt Bea who disapproved of Andy's affairs).

Geez TV Land, I'm about to sit down and have my breakfast with the Andy Griffith show and I almost choked when I heard the theme from MASH. Now I do like that show but not in place of Andy. Bye bye TV Land today, Replaced Mayberry with Korea I'm sad to say, And this ole gal instead will be on her way, Saying, Andy's show is not on the list to play, Andy's show is not on the list to play....

It's pretty strange how TVland shows programming from the 50's & 60's, but then pushes Pride crap on us. Most people watching their channel, are watching it to get away from that kind of crap on tv in the first place, and in the 50's & 60's, it would have never been allowed on tv!! Another company like bud light, that doesn't care about their customer base!!
