I LOVE Barney and Lily's friendship!!! Barney was the one that got Lily to come home and let her stay with him. Lily was the only one that Barney told his feelings about Robin to.

Paola Polanco the were perfect for each other! They were both bitches! How could he do that to his "best friend" and that slut slepping with his ex's best friend! Ted deserve way way better than Robin! And I like the fact that they were real about barney! A player would never change ! It was meant for divorce before even started!

still a pretty stupid way to go out, I mean they spend an entire season on their wedding and then a few minutes later its just "yeah we split oh well" I think what also bothered me was i really liked how they were written to be the only characters who could keep up with one another and then its just "yeah Barney cant keep up with Robin all of a sudden" it was dumb imo

I completely agree! The only two shows where I pretend the endings didn't happen. In my mind Hyde & Jackie stayed together and so did Barney and Robin! Developing that kind of chemistry and true romance only to drop it in some ridiculous last ditch effort is unforgivable. Those couples not ending up together is kind of like Scrubs Season 9.... In all respective fandoms, we simply refuse to acknowledge what shouldn't have happened.... Deal? Deal!

Here's the thing that Lily didn't get. Barney may be in love with Robin, but he's still Barney. He's not going to automatically stop sleeping with different women because he found this out. He fact that he can't stop thinking about Robin even when he is being player Barney, shows how much he cares for her. Barney never gets attached to the women he sleeps with. This is a first for him. Also, this episode doesn't make sense if you don't watch the last episode in season three. Even before Barney sleeps with Robin, you can tell he is falling for her because he spends all day trying to find her music video with her high school boyfriend, Simon. Even when Robin is sad that Simon dumped for Louise Marsh again, Barney is at her side comforting her. Then when they begin to watch the music video at Robin's place, Barney doesn't try to make a pass at her once. They sleep together after watching the music video over and over again.

IF Barney truly had genuine feelings for Robin in light of the accident near the end of season 3, that accident should have been enough for him to truly re-evaluate his life and consider what needed to be done. And his biggest concern after sleeping with Robin was to try and pacify Ted for breaking the Bro Code. Robin wasn't anywhere in his thoughts at the time.

This doen't necessarily mean that he already was falling for her at that point but I'm on your side with the rest you said. Lily doesn't get Barney this way because her view of love and relationships is totally different than his. And this is what makes the two of them together so interesting.

I think that makes sense for this scene. The suit is like his armor. By admitting he likes Robin, Barney’s letting his guard down. Hence him not being fully suited up.

This was such a good hook for season 4. I was so excited for this. Because how would Barney ever love & be faithful to someone? How they resolved the question, how would he love someone with the same level of intelligence, feelings, romance- he wouldn't. He couldn't. That was a big problem at the end for me. Season 4 promises character development & new relationships- & the ending spits in the face of all the development and said Barney Stinson could never change or heal to properly sustain a romance 🥺

I'm always in doubt about Barney's character. Because he says amd sometimes acts like he is in love (with Robin, Nora and Quinn). But then he says things that nobody says if you actually love a person. Like he said how he wanted to have sex with Robin just one more time or untill she is 40 and than Ted can have her. Or when he is in love with Quinn but puts those horrible things like sleeping with other people in their Pre-nup. I feel like the writers put those things in so the audience will laugh, but it's really inconsistent when he gives a speech about big love and then the next epsiode he says he'll only love them till they're 35-40

I wonder if the writers did this because it's Barney. Barney never really settled down or got attached to women, so when these women came, maybe the feelings for them were different that he didn't know how to handle? So, he would say all of this to avoid those feelings he was having.

@@icohen1627 Nope Robin was more of her herself when she was with Barney. She wasn't afraid to be judge and became fun person unlike with ted she was submissive and boring. Majority fans knows how an unconventional relationships works maybe you don't that's why you hate it. Barney and Robin are the most fun couple of the show and it brought ratings, otherwise HIMYM is just an average 5/10 Show!

And yet Swarkles’s relationship stood out far more than Ted/Robin’s ever did. I honestly forgot they were a couple at one point, not to mention their chemistry sizzled out pretty early on, whereas Barney and Robin just fit. Neither of them were trying to change the other, they loved each other unconditionally, whereas Ted wanted what Robin couldn’t give him. He was in love with the idea of being with Robin more than Robin herself. 🙄
