Depending on what some gave done. Some service members don't like to be thanked for their service bc it brings everything else up, just depends on the person, and what their MOS was. My fiance chose to grunt around as his MOS was 11B from 08-12. Got hurt 2 months before his active duty service was up. So he never got to full term, being as he wasn't able to fulfill his 2 years of reserves. But yes Thank you Kevin, for your full 4 yrs of active and your 2 yrs of reserves with the Gaurd also keeping all the Chinooks running safe and in tip top operational conditions, so that every man could come back safely with no mechanical issues. Plus he loves watching yours and mooks vids, he's always done everything the super hard way, but from what he says if you learn the hard way first in doing so you learn afterwards that their was 20 other ways that could have done the same job with less amount of heckin around as well the good what he calls KBB (Knuckle Bustin Bit*h) well anyways, Kevin, Mook and Koda keep on inspiring others on getting out there and do the stuff you love to do. Life's to short to not do the all things that make you happy in life unlike a 9-5. Thank you for yours and mooks service (military spouses serve as well) God bless and have a wonderful day. Would love to meet you both and have my husband actually have someone to talk shop with lol

You may have to, unfortunately, put some big "go the eff away" sign on the door. Also, if you don't mind putting in a little more money into the place, you could put in a magnetic door lock with a keycard or keypad. I would love to drop by and just hang out and help out with a project you have but, I understand that you can't be friends with everyone. It's practically impossible to do. And there are insurance concerns. If I had a professional business that wasn't youtube related, I'd have to have a customer entrance and an absolute "no entry" into work areas policy because people suck and they like to sue for a stubbed toe. Somehow, I think people see Hoovie's Garage and think that his ability to walk into a garage and help, or just stroll into the work bays is normal. It absolutely isn't. And people shouldn't think that youtube videos from certain creators is how normal life works.

Hi, I just found your channel, you are working on the second love of my life, ...the 215 Alum V8, ...back in '76 I was building a copy cat '72 Gapp & Roush Pro Stock Pinto for bracket racing at Famosa Dragstrip pushed down the 1320 with a blueprinted Boss 302 with their "special" heads , ...then my second daughter was born and that ended my drag racing endeavors. I then turned to my second hobby of dune buggys, ...I fabricated my buggy from 1 1/2 inch roll bar tubing and dropped a 215 in it, Muncie 4 speed with a Ford 9" rear end, ...after spending $10,000 in the engine, ...balanced and blueprinted, stroked it 5/8 inch with a crank from a 300 Olds making it 265 ci, treated rods, Arias floating pistons, special ground cam, ported heads with larger valves with matched intake, Holley 4 barrel, ...using everything I had learned from drag racing and building Ford engines (and $10,000 was about the same price as the G&R heads), raised up the crank center line like in the Altereds and dropped the pinion angle a degree, ...she was a wheelie monster, ended up having to move the four link rear axel back some, which helped a little, but still had to add some weight to the VW front end to hold her down, and with the long arm, at idle in second or third, nail it and she would bring the front off of the ground. I was ready for the dunes, Oceano here I come, buggy weighed in at just over 400 pounds and the speed shop that did my engine work calculated the engine to have over 380 HP, ...which back in those days was a lot of ponies. Pontiac and Buick also used the 215 for a couple of years, ...they offered a four speed car with a Muncie 4-speed and independent rear suspension. Thanks for the memories and letting an old man rant and relive some of the best times of his life, ...I've subscribed and will be following you in this project with enthusiasm.

My grandfather was a mechanic in WW2 and we had one of these in the shop with the same problem. His quick solution was to pull his car up beside it and simply pull the oil pressure senders out of both cars and add a tee below each sender. Then he ran an oil hose from his car to the engine with no oil pressure. He added 3 extra quarts to his engine. He then drained all the oil out of the engine with no oil pressure. With the drain plug out he started his car and timed how long it took for his car to pump 3 quarts into the other car. Then he put the plug back in added 3 quarts back in his car. He put 3 quarts in the engine without oil pressure. Started his car then started the other car and let them both run a bit. Worked perfect and we always did it after this demo. He said when he was in the war they would use a chevy truck with an oil line to heat up air cooled plane and tank engines on the front lines. He said they just left the drain plug out and poured the oil back in the truck engine. With planes he said they had a hose from the drain plug back to the truck engine. Makes perfect sense once you think about it the hot oil heated up the engine with no anti freeze. During the war stuff was pretty frantic and he had lots of neat tricks.

Also .. being that the balancer is so old .. make sure the rubber on the balancer is in good shape and not dry rotted .. and haven’t walked forward or backwards a little. I have the dial Mac one and love it. Don’t get to many “old timers” … but when I had to do my buds old 5.0 Ford .. came in handy. You need to get that olds running correctly lol. She sounds sick.

When I was a kidI worked with an old timer who had zero use for a timing light! He would set the timing by feel and by ear! Results were impressive! Once in awhile if it pinged he would set it back a bit! Same with dwell meters. Never used one. He would set points gap by eye balling them. He had a unique quality that allowed him to grab spark plug wires without the shock bothering him. He took a special delight in charging up condensers and leaving for one of us to pick up!

In 1972 I had bought a 1963 Pontiac Lemans that came stock with a 4 cylinder and 4 bbl carb. It looked exactly like they cut a V8 in half. It was a crazy looking engine but it ran decent. It looked pretty much like the f-85 . Thanks for the memories 👍

Great explanation of tuning. I'm going to put the methods learned from this into practice. Now I think I know why I am getting dieseling sometimes. Thank you. I can't understand why people think it's ok to just walk into your shop. I have had a similar experience as well, only once though. I have had a "fan" outside my house opening the door and looking inside Ol' Green. I went out and confronted him and he didn't see the problem. I didn't know him and didn't invite him to come on my property and open the door to my truck so of course, I yelled at him. He left and yelled back"You're mean, I'm unsubscribing!" I have had some come and knock on the door and was glad to sit and talk with them and show them around. I even have met people at the gas station or the store and am glad to talk to them. That's fine, in fact, I love that, but don't just invite yourself in.
