Baron 1898 is a Dive Coaster by Bolliger and Mabillard located at Efteling in the Netherlands. On-Ride POV, Front Row Center Seats. This roller coaster features some of the highest quality of theming found on a Dive Machine, featuring a pre-lift dark ride section, and a massive support lift structure that ties into the theming of the coaster like no other ride in the World. "The story of the ride tells about Baron Gustave Hooghmoed, who struck gold in a cave and decided to build his mine there. Nobody wanted to go down into the mine, however, because it is haunted by "Witte Wieven" (a ghost-like creature in Dutch folklore). The Baron now "hires" guests to dig the gold up for him, using the elevator to get down into the mines (a broken elevator with a test seat is located next to the queue). The Witte Wieven tries to sabotage the elevator by snapping the cable, making the guests plummet into the mines." -coasterpedia
