*Proposed Draft Constitution To Change Nigeria From 36 States To 9 Regions, Interview With The Proponent, Dr. Akin Fapohunda*. On the eve of President Tinubu's approval of the new national anthem, Maazi Ezeoke of NjenjeMediaTav a London had the opportunity to sit down with Akin Fapohunda, the author of the viral draft constitution proposing to change Nigeria from 36 states to 9 regions. Our discussion delved into the motivations, challenges, and potential impacts of his bold proposal. Fapohunda explained that the impetus behind his draft constitution was to address Nigeria's longstanding issues of inefficiency, resource mismanagement, and ethnic fragmentation. By consolidating the 36 states into 9 regions, he argued, the country could achieve more streamlined governance, equitable resource distribution, and enhanced unity among its diverse populations. He recounted the rigorous research and consultations with experts in political science, economics, and regional planning that informed his proposal. Fapohunda emphasized the importance of historical context, pointing out that the regional structure was reminiscent of Nigeria's pre-independence administrative divisions, which had fostered a more balanced development. He noted that the draft had sparked a nationwide debate on federalism, governance, and national identity, which he saw as a positive outcome regardless of the eventual fate of his proposal. In light of President Tinubu's approval of a new national anthem, Fapohunda expressed optimism. He saw the anthem as a symbol of renewal and hoped it would inspire Nigerians to embrace necessary reforms, including his regional restructuring plan. He believed that with the right leadership and public support, the transformation could pave the way for a more prosperous and united Nigeria. Throughout the interview, Fapohunda's passion for his country and his vision for its future were palpable. His draft constitution, whether adopted or not, has undoubtedly stirred a crucial conversation about Nigeria's path forward. *Watch the full interview*: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/aL5ndqR5vdHSdKs.html *Please, subscribe to NjenjeMedia and follow us on these social media handles:* 📲 Telegram: t.ly/zXpB7 📸Facebook: t.ly/52TQW 🎙KZfaq: t.ly/_97J6 🎥Instagram: t.ly/gzBay *X:*t.ly/Dr5pc WhatsApp Channel: t.ly/Mmcs_

See, I don't really care about which national anthem is more supreme. My concern is that it's not the priority now. We have more pressing issues plaguing the country, and people are really suffering with no hope in sight.
@aurayah2849
@aurayah2849 27 күн бұрын
Definitely not a priority, and cannot bring any change to the situation and condition of things as they are, but it's been done. The ones who can, care nothing about the citizens, the economy, security, or the nation. They do as they please. Commenting or expressing one's opinion about the anthem is not synonymous with acceptance of the state of things or the failed government. Far from it, but people should be allowed to agree or disagree with a thing or an act.

Aisha is right. Kenneth is 100% wrong. Anthem, flags, name, is the symbol of a nation. It's because he doesnt even understand what being a country Is that is why he thinks out of 230 million non can compose an anthem better than that of a British girl. Tomorrow when whites see us as inferior we start crying. I speak English but I still speak igbo and write igbo, it's a choice but national athem is not a choice it's what defines you. So it's a Nonsense categorization An American, British would rather go to war and die than accept to sing an anthem handed to him by a Nigerian even if that anthem is the best in the world, it's not bigotry it's called National Dignity. In Nigeria we all lack shame and that shamelessness has destroyed our thinking faculty, politicians don't feel bad being seen, labeled or called thiefs, criminals. that is why a drug lord will feel I can be president too. I respect Kenneth but on this one he spoke like a kid. The worst is that he chose brotherhood over freedom Freedom is life itself, Freedom is one thing all humans crave, brotherhood is a choice based on relationship of reciprocity. I can't see you as a brother but can denounce you anytime but nobody ever denounces freedom unless taken away from him by force, brotherhood and you say I'm a migrant in the same country I was born. Nigeria lacks a foundation and that foundation is one ideology, one ideology is what births nations and nations birth patriots And patriots birth two categories of people. Patriotic citizens who will rather die than see their nation destroyed so they hold their leaders accountable. 2: patriotic leaders who will resign if they see they can't fix the problem because they will sacrifice and do everything for the betterment of now and the unborn. Patriots see their nations as them, example an igbo, etc sees himself as igbo not part of igbo. That's what tells a people has become a nation, but all people in Nigeria still see themselves as part of Nigeria and not a Nigerian because who is a Nigerian is not yet defined to the buying of all ethnic groups existing in geography?

This is my take on what Kenneth Okonkwo said about the national anthem Nigeria we hail thee is we taking ownershipof our country /land. Yes, which is good BUT the colonists wrote Nigeria we hail thee. And now we want to take ownership of our country / our anthem, which is why we have to use the one written by our people. In the same way, we are saying let use made in Nigeria. That is taking ownership of our own sovereignty.

Trust you Kenneth Okonkwo- always coming up with good analysis on every subject.. Honestly, since this talk of the Anthem, and also being of the old time Nigeria, I have always loved the first time Anthem with so much nostalgia.. but the way and manner this our present Administration handled and presented it, brought in so much confusion that added up to the stresses that everyone was battling already with. Oh God ! Deliver us in all of this.

As long as Nigeria continues to exist then we are all doomed, no repair can fix a house without a foundation. Foundation for a country is one ideology upon which all tribes, nations and ethnicity become one people through having one ideology. One ideology is what makes you a nation, ONLY NATIONS birth Patriots, and PATRIOTS birth patriotic citizens who hold the leaders accountable and leaders who serve and sacrifice for the betterment of now and for children unborn. Since Nigeria lack ideology mothers and fathers raise their kids as igbos, yorubas etc which are existing nations with its own ideologies/world view so people become patriotic to their tribes instead of Nigeria . An America was a colonial making, But after independence the first thing their founding fathers did was Determine who is an American, out of the many races and languages they chose this ideology (A Greko Roman Christian ideology) and they called it a democracy. This is democracy is the freedom that binds all Americans irrespective of Tribe or race together. No African country ever did this. The independent fighters were bent on ruling empires they never founded and seeing the whites as superior never saw what they gave to them was a Trojan horse that will destroy them all. Kenneth keep deceiving yourself until your house in Lagos or Abuja gets demolished because you are igbo. Kenneth is naive for choosing brotherhood over freedom Freedom is life itself. Keep playing The name Nigeria and British anthem should be banned, deodorize your mind plzz and then it can be decolonized, would an American, British etc accept their anthem being given to them by a nigerian ? Yes we speak igbo, wear British clothes, etc but we still speak our languages wear local dresses. Ordinary anthem 220 million non can compose it. Except the one of a British. Nigeria truely makes educated and sane people insane. And one big problem with us Nigeria ns is once who or what is dear to us is brought to power, we throw away the negativity, and support it hookline and sinker The labour's of our heroes past because we have no heroes since 1914 doesn't mean from now till the next 1000 years if Nigeria still exists there won't be atleast two or three heroes to remember. As long as Nigeria and its anthem is done by British no matter how good it is, we must find a better Nigerian one to replace it and own it. if we can't then we deserve the colonization. tomorrow when whites see themselves as superior to you, you Start crying of racism and discrimination.

Arise old compatriots is a useless , meaningless lyrics nation anthem. I think return to old national anthem is to make it harder for those clamoring secession. "Nigeria we Hail Thee" means we bow, worship and hold Nigeria in highest regard, One Nigeria must stand and it's not negotiable. With this Anthem, people like MNK will be tried for treason. Probably that's why they want to retry him. But the Anthem recognize our unique identity. We are ethic first Igbo, Hauser, Yoruba, Edo, Ijaw, etc before we are Nigeria. Good. Old Anthem call for Nigerians to obey when the are called to fight to keep Nigeria one and do whatever it takes, good or evil in term of service to keep Nigeria one. Even if it means to commit genocide to keep Nigeria one like Biafra war. My preference is new anthem.

Kenneth Okonkwo is speaking mind on this National Anthem, even though this is not the right time for changing National Anthem!

We've never had a leader who is patriotic or even a hero, who then are we hailing, is it we ourselves or the unpatriotic past and present leaders who have lead us to where we are?

When everything in Nigeria got to "so help me God," it meant that we were doomed because everything failed, and now they moved it to the new one. Nigeria, God is afraid of you!

Even I prefer the first National anthem….the words ring deep. But the way it was changed is not good for us as a people, especially the young who used the old as a protest before now. Our government should really learn to be sensitive to the young or we have no future as a people.

Your analysis is yours. Both anthems are unique. The anthems cannot change us.

When intelligence mixed with logic speaks, reasoning submits! Even though the anthem is in no way a priority, imagine if the rulers we have had someone to speak like this in its defense. It would score some points in the hearts of Nigerians, but alas what good can come out of evil!

Barrister Kenneth Okonkwo analysis on this national Anthem topic is superb but the way it was presented to us is the issue. Next time, those at the helm of affairs should at least carry us along for us to take ownership of decisions made. So sad we are being treated this way 😢
