Sounds awesome! Terra Mystica is my favorite game, AFfO is top 10. And I played Steam and loved it.

Have been interested in this ever since I saw a Designer Diary page on BGG... but would have liked to see how you actually got things started (and the all-important thinking behind those decisions). Thanks all the same, Rahdo!

it starts slow since there's not much water on the board, so i would have had to do a runthrough, which i didn't have time for (plus it would have melted my brain). the main thing i wanted to get across was how the flow of water affects everything, and how players are likely going to be intertwined (which takes a bit)

Oh how I wish this was a Runthrough. I'm really interested in the game, and I especially fancy the 3D board they have on KS, but don't know if I want to go all out. Do you agree that this game would work well for people who love Brass? and also, can u comment on the player boards? I typically don't enjoy variable player powers, so how much of an impact do they have here? cheers :)

i think brass is a great game to draw parallels to. this definitely scratches the same sort of "we're all intertwined" simulation itch. re: the unique powers, each player gets 2, but one of them (the 'assistant') is optional, so you can leave that out. and as for the core unique ability each country has, it's not unlocked until you build your 3rd power plant (IIRC) and it's possible that this might never happen depending on how the game evolves. and if it does, they provide a bit of unique flavor, but they're not super game changing (the assistant powers are more impactful, but again, they're optional as i understand it)

how'd you feel about 2p scaling? Looks like they got some spots filled, o tightens the board.

yup, worker placement is fairly tight and tense with the blocking there. surprisingly they don't do any tightening of the main board, but there's still opportunities to get in each other's way and cut each other off

Cool. Looks kind of open, but at the same time, it looks like some spots are clearly better in certain situations than others, so plenty of chance to block. Game looks really tasty, thank you for the rundown!

no biggee. i was a dummy and said conduits are 2+cost of line, when it's 2 multiplied by cost of line.

I have to say that I'm not a fan of these rundowns. I largely have very little understanding of the games I've seen Rahdo "rundown." I much prefer the runthroughs.

can't please all of the people all of the time. bear in mind though that if i wasn't doing the rundowns, these games wouldn't get covered at all...

Fair enough, but that also lowers the threshold on what gets in. Although you say not to take your word for game quality, I still value your choice as a barometer to a great extent.

I'm finding it hard to discover games I actually want. Normally, your runthroughs are my purchase list. I think only about 4% of the last years games are on my buy list now. That has nothing to do with you... Too many ameritrash games and not enough pure euros :(
