That's the call that the juvenile barred owls use when they are begging for food from their parents. Notice the downy feathers still on the head. I hear that every time our pair is feeding their newly fledged young near our house.

I hear this every night in my backyard! I saw the massive mom in my front yard catch a rabbit. I immediately heard the screeching amplify in my backyard and then spotted two juveniles together in the tallest tree! Sooooo cool!

It's still a fledgling. You can tell by the fuzzy head...and the call. Fledgling Barred Owls are strangely approachable.

I love this! I heard and saw one at a park where I was camping this summer
