My lifelong closest friend, Wendy, became a two-time second living organ donor yesterday. Both of her recipients began their relationships with Wendy as strangers. I’ve always substituted Wendy for the actual song title throughout the lyrics any time I sing her this song. I think that’s especially appropriate today. Thank you, organ donors.

My hubby dedicated this sing to me, I've known Barry for over 40 yrs ..Out of the blue, he said do you no this song...I sung some of it, he was quite .he said it's Yours‼️He left our marriage..I knew he realized the Truth 🔑, he passed 2 mos later...He was coming home..💋😭💋Love You SAM‼️

My life long best friend was named Mandy. She passed last year. I remember when were kids and would giggle say this was her song. Oh how I wish she was here now to giggle with . My heart aches so much. I will always love her and she will always be my best friend.

This song is so underrated and I think most of the new generation didn't know about "Mandy". Personally I found this song as part of the soundtrack of the TV series "Too Old Too Die Young". ❤ What a production, indeed!

@@barrymanilow551gmailcom you have no idea how much your Song means to me - it was my light in a very dark time in my life. Mandy's dad left me 6 months pregnant. "But I sent you away O Mandy" for me refers to the time where I seriously considerd abortion cause with no husband, MS and very little money I saw no way of raising a child on my own. Today Mandy is 13. She loves the story of how we named her and is proud of the fact that she has "her own song". I sang it to her throughout my pregnancy as it meant so much to me. Today as we 'enjoy the bliss of tennagehood lol' I often say and sing 'OH MANDY...' 😁. Fun fact...my sister held her first while I was still sedated from the c-section and the nurse asked them what the babys name was to get the paperwork started. They wanted to say Amanda bit knew I was very much wanting a MANDY. As she grew older they told her she could always change her name to Amanda but no thanks she always replied. Fun fact 2: people ask her 'so what is your actual name' a lot thinking it is a nickname. Fun fact 3: when her name gets called in the Hospital waiting room via loudspeaker it is pronounced the German way which is totally wrong. Still haven't gotten used to that 🙈. "I never realized how happy you made me oh Mandy" pretty much sums up the years of my life.

I knew a girl named Mandy and I really really liked her. She left town a few days before New Year's Eve. The feelings I went through felt like a heart attack. A buddy of mine had a heart attack and he told me what the pain felt like. (The same). After 6 months she moved further away. Like in Star Trek Scotty said: "it's like the first time you fall in love, you don't really love another like you did that first one"

This song was originally supposed to be named "Brandy" but due to a very popular song that was out at the time named brandy, by the band the looking glass, Barry decided to change the name to Mandy. And as they say, the rest is history.
