The best testament to Barry's talent came fro Howie Long. I played against him 11 times and never touched him. And he's a hall of Famer.

Not a Lions fan, but Barry Sanders was and is still my favorite football player of all time. The GOAT. My favorite part of Thanksgiving as a kid was watching Barry making straight up fools out of the defense.

That's not totally fair. Barry had decent o-line. Lomas Brown made multiple pro bowls and was All-pro. He had Kevin Glover who was pretty good. I think it seems worse than it was because the Lions are consistently trash overall, and the fact that Emmit Smith ran behind probably the Greatest O-Line ever.

When the Lions actually had their oline clicking Barry went for 2000 yards. Every other year they were inconsistent...and he still went for like1200 at least.

💯. We got a little taste of it at Oklahoma St. With a decent team, he shattered (and still holds) virtually every single-season RB record there is. If Dallas had taken him #1 instead of Aikman......smh.... i don't think it's a stretch to predict that he might have averaged 2000 yards/year. I mean, he averaged 1500/year with Detroit...

My favorite football player ever. I'm from Detroit and I went to a few games as a kid. One time at a game, my mom went to the bathroom and Barry ran for an 80 yard TD. When she came back we told her she missed it. She was so upset lol.

Barry and Megatron are two of my favorite players of all time. These guys were class acts on and off the field. Both retired early while still at their peaks.

One of my favorite juke is the one he put on Rod Woodson of the Steelers, Barry juked Woodson so hard on a swing pass that Woodson blew out his knee... done for the season.

My favorite was the game in 92 where Darrell Green of the Redskins had to leave the game because he hurt himself trying to tackle Sanders.

Top 5 juke runs lol...Cowboy's Ken Norton in famous playoff game run , Buc's Jon Lynch 80 yard run , Steeler's Rod Woodson(tore his ACL on the juke), Harlon Barnett Patriots, Buc's Derrick Brooks on 65 yard screen pass, Viking's Felix Wright & Jimmy Williams on two separate runs in same game in 91'. And of course hundreds of others during his brilliant career.

"Anger was expressed".... understatement. Barry is the BEST to eva push that rock. PERIOD. Look at his pathetic teams, including coaching, with not much of an O/L. For the people that harp on his yards lost, that tends to happen as soon as you touch the ball, and you have to immediately make another grown professional NFL player miss you. Thank you Barry for the privilege of watching greatness for 10 NFL years, and one of the greatest collegiate years ever. Oh, one more thing, when Barry was in college and the opposing coach (Barry Switzer) told his staff, "We don't want to hurt Thurman (Thomas), because we DON"T WANT TO SEE THIS KID BARRY SANDERS," nuff said people.

People forget that he tore his MCL at the prime of his playing days in thanksgiving day. I was to say ‘93. Back then it was a big deal because a lot of players weren’t able to bounce back to their true form - surgical and PT skills weren’t nearly as advanced. Yet Barry not only bounced back but he was a better player.

I’ve torn my MCL before. As long as it’s a partial tear it can fully heal without surgery. Don’t get me wrong it’s no fun but it’s nowhere near as bad as an ACL tear which nearly always needs reconstruction as it usually completely snaps when injured.

Best pure RB ever. Not great in Pass Pro or Receiving. But he was so good with the ball in his hands it simply did not matter. I say "ever" because with respect imagine what he'd have done to Jim Brown's competition. Or Gayle Sayers.
