Tom took a lot of singing lessons and it shows at his todays age. Kept his voice healthy and never needed auto-tune. he also danced his socks off during a lot of songs without missing a note.

Tom Jones is a Welsh singer who has one of the smoothest powerful voices around. And he was a showman too, in fact he was a big heart-throb with the ladies. He has so many hits such as "It's Not Unusual", "What's New Pussycat?", "Green, Green Grass of Home", "She's a Lady". He covers a lot of genres. He is still performing & is a coach on "The Voice" UK version. He also had a variety show from 69 - 71 & had some of the biggest music stars at the time.

Ed Sullivan had a one hour variety show on Sunday nights. You "made it" when Sullivan booked you...comedians, singers, magic, acrobats and even puppets. It's where the Beatles first appeared on American TV.

The Ed Sullivan Show had a lot of different types of acts on his show but the most memorable were the big musical artists that performed. As mentioned above The Beatles but also Elvia Presley, Janis Joplin, The Supremes, The Temptations, The Jackson Five, Mamas and Papas, The Rolling Stones, The Doors and so many others. Many times this would be the first time a lot of people were introduced these artists. Reruns of these shows are still shown today.

Tom Jones had a weekly TV show in the late 60's and often performed duets with many of the top singers of the day. Many are on KZfaq. Janis Joplin, Wilson Pickett, Stevie Wonder, etc. An experience not equaled by today's television.

I also recommend watching and listening to Engelbert Humperdinck. He was at the top with Tom, had the same manager and was also from Great Britain. A very handsome man and also a great singer. The two singers are often compared, but Tom was more of a showman than Engelbert was.

This is a murder ballad..actually quite common through the centuries...the traveling bards told stories in music and some were very descriptive..lol...even Johnny Cash's Folsom Prison Blues..'I shot a man just to watch him die '... The music is mariachi..Mexican..music... Tom was and remains hot material...no auto tune...his great voice had writers sending their best work...he still sings and coaches... Some ask who hurt him because his ability to emote made folks believe it was actual experience..however he had a long and loving marriage... 🌿🌿🌿

I think Sam would enjoy "What`s New Pussycat", it was the theme from a 1960s comedy film. With an expression typical of the `60`s period. You might also checkout another Welsh singer Dame Shirley Bassey, in particular two of the Bond themes she did, (Goldfinger) & (Diamonds Are Forever.)

I too very much love the instrumentation I love that this time orchestras were used The marvelettes the ronettes would lay down their vocals and feel specter will say bye-bye and they go away and that he would bring in what was known as the WALL OF SOUND and when these people hurt their recording for the first time on the radio they themselves were blown away cuz all they laid down were their vocal tracks and then they heard this huge orchestration in the background which just makes it even that much more dramatic powerful and dynamic people fell in love not only with each other but with this music so glad you guys are appreciating what we already know is some of the best music ever done by some of the greatest artists ever known! "AND NO AUTO TUNE!"Oh and yet Sullivan show was not known for its colors The '60s became a colorful decade because of the hippie and psychedelic art!

Great reaction guys. Sir Tom was (and still is) a beast. A contemporary of his was (and still is) Englebert Humperdink. Same vibe. For something different, check out Fanny. I've suggested them a few time to other reaction channels but no-one has tried it yet. Fanny was the first 'all-girl' rock group to sign a contract and record. (this was late 60s-early 70s) They shattered the glass ceiling so groups like Heart, The Runaways, The Bangles, The Go-Gos, etc. could shine. So under-rated. If you chose to try them, use any of the 'Beat Club" videos. The sound is as close to live as you can get. I would suggest "Young and Dumb" to start but any of them will blow you away.

I saw Tom Jones 5 straight years running in Vegas in the early to mid'70s. He really knew how to manipulate an audience. He could get the men on his side quite excellently. He'd do 2 shows a night and from what I understand, the 2nd show was not the same as the first. Then, after the shows he's off to a performer's house or penthouse and still keep singing all night long. He just loves to sing. Also, I also head that his rehearsals were generally made up of British bawdy bar songs and backstage there would be betting as to which women would be jumping on stage.
